Fuel Pump Options: 1990 Testarossa

I'll give that a thumbs up for being a ~60mm body and having the same spec as the stock TR fuel pump: 190 L/hr at 3 bar (300 kPa) -- see P2 graph in post #20. The stock TR fuel pump actually operates at 5.3 bar and a flow of 150-180 L/hr (and the minimum flow spec at that pressure in the TR WSM is 120 L/hr = 1L in 30 secs). The only thing you might have an issue with is the inlet nipple is only 1/2" diameter whereas the stock TR fuel pump (and the hose on your TR) is for a 15mm diameter inlet nipple (IIRC). My last minor nit is that I never like it when a supplier has a model year limit more restrictive than it needs to be -- should be 1985-1991 Ferrari Testarossa.

 

I recently had a 328 that would not pull redline. It had the 52mm pump so I replaced it with this.

It solved the running issues. Having an additional fitting on the suction side does not bother me.

Its Chinese and I hate that but until Bosch decides to provide the correct pumps I'll use these.

 

I purchased a couple of those and had them sent out to Oz Steve. Size and shape is 100% perfect but I couldnt verify flow rates and amperage draw, but obviously the knockout is the 1/2" feed size. I mean, It's probably size sufficient but how do you step down from 15mm hose to 12mm hose over a length of like 70mm. I even looked into having silicon reduction hoses made, but this proved too difficult to be done using fuel safe silicon.

There are zero specs on that website and I cant even tell if the inlet size is correct. I'll try and write to them, but occasionally they wont even answer an enquiry if it comes from outside of the USA.

 

It does look like a decent physical match (large body size and larger? inlet nipple). You might go thru the part numbers in this ebay ad to see if they claim that it matches the stock TR Bosch PN (your homework, not mine ):

It is odd that they give zero specifications. There are some photos in that ebay ad that might let you do a scaling measurement to estimate the nipple diameter assuming the body diameter is 60mm.

 

I read every web site I found I looked for all the information I could on them and found very little. They were very proud of the fact and proclaimed repeatedly it is an American company but not a single bit of information of where the pumps are made. After so many years of failures of replacement parts, including from old respected name companies I have become very sensitive to where they are now sourcing their parts. Costs of failed parts just kills us (In the last 10 years it is 200 or 300 percent more common) and is frankly one reason shop rates have gotten so expensive.
The pumps I noted above even though they are Chinese in origin have so far treated me well. I have quite a few in clients cars with so far no issues. But the minute if and when the proper Bosch pump, if it is German made and not one of their 3rd world plants will be my first choice.

 

Many complaints from all repair shops on the quality of replacement parts! Was not that problem in the past. Quality control is gone down to zero. Performance camshafts in the after market world is crazy bad.

Its because so many previously great parts manufacturers have gone to off shore production, primarily in Asia but some other places too. I hate taking in Ferraris with real distributors because Marelli parts have gotten so bad. Bosch parts are made in every extreme low labor cost country you can name. I keep a box of old Bosch relays to use because the new ones are such junk.

It seems like the best option, the Bosch 0 580 254 947 or 69532 is no longer available.
The replacement, the Bosch 0 580 464 125 or 69435, seems to be too weak.
What about the Bosch 0 580 464 205 (BOSCH EKP-3, BOSCH 69903)?

Don't see how 69903 is really any different than 69435 -- both being the 52mm diameter pump size (rather than the 60mm diameter). In fact, I'd prefer the 69435 over the 69903 -- as the 69903, with the screw-in inlet fitting, just has another place to leak . If you can dig up tech specification links for each, I'd be glad to review and comment, but the same pump size is going to put them in the same league IMO.

 

I purchased two of them and ran some positive tests but the problem here is the 12mm inlet needs adapting to 15mm and there isnt much room in there to play.

1. Seems OK, but their describing it as "manufactured as 0580254910" in the text, I'm not familiar with that (or I've forgotten ). It seems to have a slightly taller boss where the check valve mounts, but that's probably OK.

I'd probably go with #5 or #4.

You need to be a little careful here -- many reputable F part suppliers are calling it "121727" but actually selling 69435. Without a picture, I wouldn't trust this one. If the pump comes with the black zig-zag plastic piece = it's the smaller 52mm body pump (like 69435).

 

The F part is not available/order. The one that's in stock is the "approved" Bosch part, zig zag

 

hi Brian sorry to revive this old thread but I am looking for a couple of fuel pumps, I live in California and Amazon cannot ship the fuel pump here (no idea why) so I looked for it in their website but it is giving me a fitment option of 10AN+6AN or 6AN+6AN, which one should I get??
The only other thing needed to make it work is the M18x1.5 to 5/8 adapter??

I was reading this other 328 thread that has very interesting information and graphs of all the options available, I am not sure if the “operating bucket” of the 328 would be the same as the Testarossa.

I am really inclined to get the evil energy Brian recommended I am just not sure which fitting is the one I need, 10AN+6AN or 6AN+6AN, do you happen to know??

In the picture there’s one of each so my guess is 10AN+6AN and I just purchase the other adapter separately.
I just want to confirm because I need to place the order in their website directly as Amazon doesn’t ship car parts to California

 

Ok never mind, it does not matter which version I choose because I will not use that inlet adapter but the other barbed one Brian posted the link, I thought maybe I’d need the barbed adapter in addition not instead of.
