‘08 XKR. Fun car! Image Unavailable, Please Login After posting the above picture: Interesting is I copied this pic from my garage that was on my iPhone, my other car next to it but my iPhone clipped out everything in the pic except for the Jag. How is this?
I daily a 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring. A little rough on bad roads and of course no rear seats, but I have fun every day. 296 gts is in production. Use my wife's SUV when we need a back seat, but I should have kept the Mercedes E63S or the GTC4 Lusso. Curious what others do for winter driving (Midwest).
If you are gonna do that , get the Porto instead. Trust me it’s not repetitive , my other car is an F8s. Great combination IMHO.
AMG GTC w/top down here as well. Of course, this being Texas, it's too effing hot for the next 5 months. So, it's back to the '08 C63 hoopty as DD.
For $50k or so I don’t think you can beat it for a daily. One of my absolute favorite DDs. Just make sure it has a warranty, she ain’t cheap to fix.

The S580 isn't exactly a sports car but the latest version is quite nimble, sporty, powerful, and efficient. It's my favorite DD car. This one is Emerald. It's my second green S class. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I daily drive a Fiat 500 Abarth. It's not fast, but it's nimble, makes a ridiculously fun noise, and it's really easy to park. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Taking delivery of one tomorrow for my lovely wife! Really hard to beat if you need space (which she does - three little girls in the back).
new feature of the last year or so. if you hold on the main subject of a photo, it will cut it out from the background like this. if you want the whole thing, you need to hold on the mid or background instead. It'll draw a sort of white-ish highlight over the section your cutting out, just hold outside that outline to get the whole thing.
I started driving the S class after reading an article in a car oriented publication that stated that the moden S class has never had an accident where the occupants died. That was back in 2010. I'm sure that's changed but if you're going to get rammed by a semi, you want to be in a car like the S class. They are tough, safe, and can really take a beating.
Funny you say that. The reason we're getting an S-Class tomorrow is our nanny was t-boned in our Maserati last month with two of our girls in the backseat. The other driver ran a stop sign. Not much our nanny could have done. Fortunately everyone was OK. And the Quattroporte performed admirably. But after this experience, safety was high on the list of considerations. This is, after all, our family car. And like you say, pretty tough to beat the S-Class on that front. Fortunately, it's also quite good looking and a very nice place to spend time!
In 2020 my wife and I were in a front end collision with a deer running across the road while in our MB Maybach S600. Not a big deal except it caused us to veer off the road- decapitate a wood utility pole which crushed the car hood and roof of the passenger compartment and took out the entire undercarriage of the car. We walked out without a scratch. Car totaled-and worth every penny Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Good point about safety. I enjoyed the S class cabrio I had for a while a couple of years back. Unfortunately 8 series, Panamera, S class a bit too big for my daily needs. I drove a Panamera Turbo S Hybrid across Europe a couple of years back and it was unbeatable for fast family transportation. Macans are great cars but my wife refuses to have one because they are a bit over popular here on the school run.
2011 BMW 128i. 3-liter NA straight 6, 6-speed manual, rwd, 2 doors, sport package. It lives outside & I drive it all year round; if there’s snow in the forecast I take the Tundra behind it. It’s a fun driver, and I never have a care about where I park it or the weather (except snow). 180k+ miles now and I hope to keep it going as long as I can, because they’re not making them like this anymore. Best DD for good weather is a motorcycle- the Ducati Diavel is my favorite- I love wazing my time home from work and usually knock a good half hour from the usual 1-1 1/2 hr drive . It requires all your attention so it clears your head. May eventually take a look at the new EV cycles Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I had a Macan Turbo when it first came out and agree with others it was a hoot and great daily when I lived in city. Sold it when we had kids and needed bigger rig. Currently have a Model 3 Performance which I use for 360 mile round trip work commute 1-2x a month. It's super sporty (way more than Model S, including Plaid which I've owned) and as much fun to drive as E90 M3 I previously owned. Have a Range Rover Sport PHEV on order to replace M3. Will be good for shuttling growing kids to/from school in EV mode and comfy for the monthly work commutes.
