Thank you...my understanding is that if one breaks the tabs, it'll be difficult to remove the radio later on.

Bend them gently. Again, we are talking about the tabs on the sleeve.

What do you do about the tabs used for removal. Do you have to break them out to remove the radios with the included keys?

Nothing gets broken. Once the sleeve is installed, you slide the unit in until it locks. If you want to remove it from the sleeve, use the keys as usual.

like this, but choose the ones that hold it in best. That's why there are multiples of these in different locations:

I guess you don't understand what I am asking. If you look at this picture there is plastic blocking the keys from being inserted. Looks like you can cut the side with a razor blade to remove them.

I think it was stated early in this thread that these basically do not come out easy and have to be broken or pushed through? You can remove the unit from the cage without using these if the unit hasn't been installed yet, but I don't know if there is a non-damaging way to remove them once the unit is clicked into the vehicle.

Could be that they just pop out with the right pick/tool but nobody has tried it yet or at least not posted about it.

Yea. I’m going to mess with it a bit and play with some different combinations. Want to center the boot logo first as I’m not sure why that isn’t where it should be.

Looked using my trinocular, they are secured on all 4 sides. I used an xtacto to remove them and then a black paint marker to clean up the plastic where the tabs were secured. Stupid they did it this way as you will always have a little "white" where the plastic is cut and need to touch it up.

Another silly question: let’s say I install the sleeve, then lock in the radio so it doesn’t slide out but later decide to reinstall the Becker radio. I break the tabs so I could use the tool to remove it, is the radio no longer functional?

I guess I’m asking what is the reservation in installing the sleeve and locking it in, so I could repurpose the $140 radio?

Yes, the radio is still functional. The tabs are aesthetic in nature.

Guys there's a better way - if you remove the silver cover with the 2 Torx screws right on the front the surround of the radio gets exposed.

Through the two window button holes (behind this cover) you can get access with a small screwdriver to the side tabs of the radio that lock it in place to the sleeve.

So you don't have to break the plastic tabs on the front in that case...it makes it a bit harder to remove it since you have to juggle and lock in two screwdrivers (or one side at a time nudging the radio slightly) but you keep the aesthetics of the front plastic cover and get the full flexibility as well.

also, worst case if it gets stuck (maybe I wasn't as aggressive as the rest of you with bending the new cage bracket tabs to hold in place) I just reached up under the dash and pushed the Radio from the back and it slid right out

If you bend the tabs properly to have it secured in place the sleeve won't come out easily. I think you want a firm fixture so it doesn't come out during car going over bumps or vibrating...

Great 1 din radio for the F430 and or others needing 1 din. CP-71W by power accoustic

playing a bit on this. some cool stuff online like for example Ferrari Font where you can write what you want. than took images on google images and wrote what i wanted on them in powerpoint and saved as a jpg. the "changelogo.jpg" that you save on your drive is for when the unit turns on.. which is cool and then under settings you can go to wallpaper and choose any jpg you put on your usb drive as the screen wallpaper but while it has 6 spots for wallpaper it only allows you (i think) to upload one. be sure to make sure its not a white background or you wont be able to read the screen stuff the radio has on it as its all white lettering (ie radio, eq, bluetooth...). here are a few i did to play with and you can download if you like. link to the ferrari font and you unzip it and then double click the font name and it'll ask you if you want to install. then restart word or powerpoint, etc and its in your font collection. way cool for customizing shirts and or banners and stuff. https://www.fonts4free.net/ferro-rosso-font.html# and to see the font page: https://www.fonts4free.net/ferro-rosso-font.html. DONT CHOOSE DOWNLOAD ON BIG GREEN BUTTON. That's an ad. use the link i gave you or the small font in the middle that says download.

Sorry I wasn’t specific enough - sleeve stayed in place and radio slid out when pushed from the back. I’ve road tested a fair bit and no issues staying in place thus far

OK, I installed my the Power Acoustik in my car. Couple of comments...

I'm very disappointed in the Bose amp setup. It does not use the line out from the Becker but uses the speaker level lines and has it's own crossover for the subwoofer, which I guess you can't configure in the radio. So you really only need the single harness from Amazon with the RCA inputs, unless you need a backup camera which requires an additional line which isn't included.

PA should have used a different design for the radio removal tools/access, something thinner like Becker uses. I did cut the plugs out and then used some black plastic book binding material to hide the silver of the mount/radio. I slit the plastic so that you can push the removal tools though but normally nothing but black is visible. While the radio is not installed this is easy to do.

I have not installed my backup camera, so that will wait for another time. I did fix my broken window switch but then noticed I'm through to the shiny stuff in one spot on the switch so I guess either I need to replace both buttons so they match or in the winter time send out my switches and my air vents to StickRX.

    Now back to the radio....
After installation I played with my different boot screens but even though they looked good before the radio was installed, something was missing... I also did a bit of work on the wallpaper I created. In the end, the most OEM looking ones are below in a new zip file for the 430 and Scud. I need to find a good 360 engine pic as a base for the 360 version

Not sure about the 360 engine. I used AI to convert a photo to a line drawing... Is this a good base to build the other 360 screens from?
