While not the ending McLaren fans would have liked (or, better said, not the start they would have liked), I think one of the commentators got it right when he said that McLaren are no longer satisfied with 2nd. They are competing for the win. If Merc continues its progress, we may even have 3 cars dicing for the win.
Zak Brown visited the RBPT facility at Milton Keynes during the SilverstoneGP weekend about a possible engine swap from Mercedes due to the situation with Mercedes. (They didn't elaborate on what that situation is). At the moment, tensions between the 2 teams are somewhat high because of the Lando-Max incident in Austria.
Thats interesting but a late change would be a bad idea. The PU configurations are done and a late swap if Zak is after it, will ensure he gets what they have to offer not what he would prefer from RBPT. I dont see Mclaren reworking the chassis given they have provided input to Mercedes for the Mercedes PU as a customer. I guess stranger possibilities exist potentially lol.
McLaren looking like the best team at the moment. Wonder if there is anything to be decided toward the end of the season?
