Semi true …..For Ferrari , with its history and its Romantic associations ( (Extremely powerful and ‘trumps’ weight savings and horsepower - imho ) , Le Mans is THE WORLD CUP Trophy , The Wimbledon , the Monaco Grande Prix , The Open , all rolled into 1 magical dust infused cloud … - and a Genre defining car , those that have received ( a while back ) and will receive notification - well done , well deserved , bravo and let’s all look at the GT vision ……
As ( ‘ me finks ‘ ) the design ‘ may ‘ be a lot more radical then most of us think …..purely due to ‘aero is aero so active is hero ’….. it’s more the active nature I think may entice ….. I have no knowledge other than my guesswork , my Hoyo de Monterey and my Barolo …..
Totally besides the point. Ferrari takes part in racing series in order to win the overall championships. Winning just a race is a feat, but not the overall goal. Their words, not mine!
The WEC has only been in existence the last decade or so. LeMans is forever, the random championship series that hijack the race come and go.
Really? You might want to read you history, sir. The current WEC was established in 2012, but the original Sportscar Championship was established in 1953: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Sportscar_Championship Kids these days and their lack of historical knowledge...
Le Mans existed long before the WSC, and has now raced almost as many years post-WSC as it did under that flag.
There is a reason that there is Championship now and Ferrari is taking part in this Championship!!! Ferrari is not taking part only in the 24 Hours of LM!!!
..but you need an algorithm to decide or explain which cars can race in which class…Imsa WEC… things have been a mess for awhile. This is a distraction, and the invitation silhouette is interesting.. agree with jag that it’s gonna be more aero than some expect….
The 499 was designed to win Le Mans (which it has now done twice). Of course they want to win WEC but they needed to win Le Mans if at all possible and they committed the design of their car to prioritise that. Regarding F250 and aero, there are some interesting revelations made when comparing the mule and the teaser lines on the gift. Compare the two lines marked in red which are completely different. Does this suggest there is significant moving aero on the doors to feed the rear? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My bet is on a huge door undercut to create big aero effects.. We can guess it on the definitive mule videos ( not this mulotipo)
Probably SP3-type door scoop. Didn’t really think the door waistline would drop like on the mule, though @day355 comment about prominent NACA scoop (I think) kind of questioned that premise. Very quick (i.e., sloppy ) scribble of my first thoughts on this: Image Unavailable, Please Login
but been advised ( in very firm way) not to speak (to much) about it. For days I writte a post...then erase it! Can't share(for now). Apologies.
Indeed, I can imagine the bottom part closely matching, while the upper lines for now are clearly inspired on the Vision GT.
Saw the mule from the pics at the factory today. No wing visible, however before it drove out the wing rose up to resemble what we’ve seen in the images. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
