I have replaced the battery 2 times already in 2 .5 years. I have it on a tender all the time. These issues tend to happen when I get my car back from Ferrari dealer service. I tell them to put it on the tender, but I suspect they do not and they will have the car for 3-4 days or so

I have the OEM Ferrari tender made by CTEK and I have the more advanced one made by CTEK (5.0). The battery wont accept a charge from the 5.0. It makes a pulsing sound, then stops making that pulsing sound. IN the past in would continue to make the pulsing sound.

I swapped the 5.0 with another 5.0 unit and it fails as well and that charger works on the other car just fine, so its not the charger.

The weird thing is that the OEM Ferrari Charger works just fine.

Battery is an interstate battery that was installed 6 months ago and was the 2nd one. Do you think the battery is failing despite the OEM battery tender is able to charge it ok?

Strange. Mine has an interstate installed in 2022 and working just fine with the OEM tender. Wondering if you have some current drain somewhere.

Just to clarify, it works fine on the OEM tender made by CTEK, it does not work on the "better" (5.0) tender made by CTEK and ia hve swapped the tender and it works on another car and the other cars fails on mine (The 5.0) so its not the charger

What happens if you connect the CTEK 5.0 directly to the battery terminals on the battery with the cable clamps? What I am learning, is that if there is a high enough parasitic load on the battery while sitting, that some chargers won't actually initiate the charging cycle for some unknown (to me at least ) reason why.Using one of the bluetooth battery monitors can sure give you enough information about whether the battery is charging with the charger, and the voltage rate of drop over a few days indicating that there may be a high parasitic load on the battery. The only way to measure parasitic load is to put a current reading VOM in series with the negative terminal.

Think you have an AGM battery. So you need to make sure you have an AGM capable charger and it is in AGM charge mode.

I wouldn’t trust the OEM charger having seen them do charging very poorly and it has no diagnostic capability. My OEM Roma charger (not a CTEK) is completely useless causing considerable grief. New high end CTEK much better.

That the new CTEK fails is indicative.

I’m going on 2 years and 4,300 miles with the original battery. I’ve never gone longer than 2 weeks straight on the tender before driving it so it doesn’t sit plugged in very long.

I upgraded my 488’s charger to a model 7002 from CTEK and it’s been flawless for 4 years now. My battery is an AGM battery and I use the AGM function on the charger.

IMO Our factory Ferrari batteries are OK when they go in the car. Our cars have a volt age drain. The longer the battery is not on a tender the greater the chance of a battery fail , i.e a cell or 2 dying. Once that happens its only time when it fails.

Your car / battery was blessed IMO that it wasnt without a tender for any length of time and no cells have been damaged..

I'm thinking you could go 6 years for starters. Then play it by ear.
