I have a weird clicking sound in the upper right corner of the windshield or windshield frame when driving the 2023 GTS with the top down. Around where the roof locks into the windshield frame. Dealer couldn't figure it out. Any ideas? Doesn't happen with roof closed or at slow speeds when down. Seems to happen at 40mph or more.

Sounds like you are not going fast enough. Did you try 65-75 mph?

I think so - but I can't just always drive like that and keep my license! Not sure the rattle went away at that speed. Maybe I should see what happens at 210!

Trying to find the source of this tapping noise on my GTS which occurs at around 35-40 mph roof up or down!

Couldn't really hear it in your video, but my service manager sent a message to Ferrari and the tech said he had not heard of that issue before and asked if perhaps the windshield was mounted improperly.

And I think as you describe it "tapping sound" is more accurate than rattle or creak. Actually upper LEFT corner not upper right. Driver's side (in US).

The tapping noise is clearly audible above the wind noise in the video if you turn the volume up. It seems to be coming from outside and can be heard by the passenger when the passenger side window is open.

Right - heard it this time. Maybe not from the windshield? That's what I was hearing too.

Check out the aero bridge. I was on a 700+ mile drive and there was a Ferrari engineer in the convey. He noticed I was looking at the bridge and asked if I was hearing a noise as in his last training course other engineers had mentioned noisy flexing and had fitted replacements.

It sounds like something is flapping in the wind.... Can it be a window trim, or wiper blade or something like that?

put some blue tape over it and see if that changes anything. Process of elimination.

Have not been able to test it - between the 115 degree temps in Scottsdale and the check engine light (in the shop now) - no chance. But I did put electrical tape over the loose flap and once I get the car back will test that and let you know.

    Isn't the thing under warranty?

    "Tape" on a $400k car?

Yes - it is - but they can't figure out what is making the noise. They tried suspension stuff, even called the factory, but couldn't figure it out. If the tape works, I'll get them to find a better solution (under warranty). And this car was $500K.

Well for a half million $ car I would not be very tolerant so hope it all works out- without tape

The tape is to find the issue not resolve it. If you ever have wind noise or a sound you can't find, it is a good way to isolate.

When I had an SLS AMG GTS it had a rattle after 20K miles which sounded like loose lug nuts in a hubcap and which the dealer could not find the source after replacing tires, wheels, brakes, lines, suspension parts etc. They called Germany who eventually sent a tech with a 5 microphone system which was affixed to the car and driven. After analysis they determined the front subframe was cracked and replaced it and it was gone.
I doubt Ferrari has a similar system but you can ask.

I can ask, but I doubt the dealer can do this. I also noticed the left windshield wiper has a plastic clip with holes that go over the top of the wiper, and I assumed the washer hose goes under it. However, it won't stay and it may be that the cover is making the noise. The whole thing is very frustrating. This car has lots of plastic parts like the wiper cap and both doors over the electrical outlet and the gas refill. The gas door came open twice while driving. They worked on the actuator after the first time, but then it did it again recently. It also had a faulty oil cap which caused the check engine light to come on. Never buy a demo!

My independent VAG repair shop has one of those microphone systems. Not that rare.

It’s probably resolved but as a new 296 owner and for anyone else that might get this - it’s common. It’s actually the air-con acutator/bipass that has either got stuck; failing or completely failed. If completely failed then the noise has disappeared but now you are either only getting hot or cold air blowing from the HVAC.

To fix the failed part either needs replacing (worse case) or a simple s/w update and reset of the system can fix this - as was the case for me.

I am also getting this windshield rattle when the roof is open on my 296 gts, more noticeable on bumpy roads and at speed. @FTRAK1 @sg1 did you manage to get it fixed?

That issue was one of many - so I traded the 296 GTS for an F8 Spider. This completely solved ALL the problems I was having with the 296! But perhaps like a fool, I ordered a new 296GTS last May and it is currently in the port, waiting to be delivered. They rushed it into production since I was so disappointed in the 23. I'll trade the F8 for the new one, and hope they solved these issues.
