    No, that's an excellent offer.

That's also correct, in that our GTB/GTS engine never had a specific Service Manual, as it was :just like the GT4!

Your owners stamp show a 1977 version though are you sure your Dad had a CATALYST equipped car??
This is a nice correct set of USA (and Canada) version early steel 308s.

    GLWS!

There are repro Binders that would make this a "Concours Ready" ready set, for the last one point!!

Thanks for the message, Big Tex! I am not sure about why we have a 1977 version and can't speak to whether it was CATALYST equipped.

When you mention repro binders, are you speaking about the leather pouch?

Yes, I think there's an ad now for one of the leather ones, all of my early cars had leather binders, but the patterned cloth ones got scrambled at the dealers sometimes, usually later injected cars...

    No worries!

As owner of three early cars I have seen a lot of books, always tried to keep them sorted and with the car!!

@BigTex I got an inquiry for just the Warranty Card/Owner's Service Book. Do you think it's worth it would significantly diminish the likelihood and/or worthof this lot if I was to sell that separately?

Always a judgement call, but as it is the only document that shows the VIN, I would say "not much" as a blank one could replace it, and the remaining books are all "specific to the model, but not the car" and so have a much broader appeal to the Market.

Much like my decision to "sell one QV wheel" only you can make a decision to "help someone", possibly at more hassle to your remaining items.
I still have three wheels and hear crickets!!!

    :D :D

Also, if used properly in period, the first several Coupons should have been torn out to maintain the Warranty!!!

I know it’s been a few months but do you have this book set? If you do I have a bit of a long shot offer. I have a 1977 GTB but my warranty book is for a 1978. If I paid you, would you be willing to exchange your 1977 book for my 1978 book. If it’s sold or this would be too much hassle I totally understand. Thanks!

Hi, I saw this ad on eBay also. I’m particularly interested in the warranty booklet but would be happy to buy the set. The warranty booklet shows the VIN of my 77 GTB, so it must somehow be associated with my car. I wonder if your dad owned this car at one point?
PM me please. I would love to discuss and know more.

The original warranty book for your car and you're indecisive? You snooze, you lose.

Indecisive? Not at all. I just (today) reached out on e-bay and here. I saw this post early on but it was for a later GT4. E-bay sends me recommendations and one came in with a photo. I zoomed in and to my surprise I saw 21819 for 77 308 GTB on the warranty page! I just want to talk about the history and see if his father ever owned my car or if it fills in some of the history.

Yes. I do, and did on e-bay. I purchased the whole set just for the booklet. I’m still interested in the backstory though and it doesn’t seem like the seller (justifiably) wants to part with just the booklet. I’m putting together a history so talking to past owners is interesting to me as well.

Well done, the warranty book is too important to pass up. Cheers to you for working to complete the provenance. Pity that more don't follow your example?

    Hi Evan,

Thank you so much for your PM. It was nice to read about your dad and the history of how he ended up with the GT/4. No worries on timing. Just knowing that it will eventually be reunited with the car is good enough. Other parts of that set that don't belong with the 77 GTB will be offered up for someone with a GT/4. Unless I buy one of them, next. :):D

PS. I was stunned when I saw the eBay listing. I usually just habitually delete them. And I saw your earlier listing on FChat for the same, but never looked closely because it was for the GT4. But I just had a strange urge to open that eBay listing, in part because it was from an individual seller talking about his dad's car. Not some parts-trader with hundreds of repros. So when I scrolled through, I saw a VIN number that looked like mine. I literally leaned over, readjusted my glasses and zoomed in with disbelief like I just found a four-leaf clover. :) Maybe your Dad had a hand in this after all.

For everyone else on this thread, through these FChat posts, I’ve found both the current owner of the car (I found some old invoices that I’m going to reunite him) and the current owner of the original warranty card. Super cool and the type of stuff my dad would have totally geeked out on. Now, I’M the one that gets to bug MY wife about “can you believe we found the original owner of the warranty card.”
