    I get what your saying but when 2 drivers of this caliber are behind the wheel, all rational thinking goes out the window. Over time, these 2 (Max and Lando) learn from their "clashes" and move on.

    He's not defending. He's moving after the other car already made a move.

    The rule was created for him, but if it's not applied ... He had nothing to lose also, so even more impetus to do it.
    Too bad he didn't DNF.

    Yeah, just like Vettel and Webber when they crashed out in Turkey after Webber was going to overtake and Vettel swerved and defended.

    I don't agree with current micro managing rules, track limits, etc, but, these are the current rules.
    Can't apply them one lap and ignore them the next.

    Especially with a guy with a superior car. He doesn't need more help.

    Agreed. The stewards need to apply the rules as quickly as possible instead of waiting at the end of the race. Yes, they are slow at applying said rules. Consistency is also key in applying the rules but we all know that that's wishful thinking..

    Exactly. By the time they analyze and analyze some more, there's already another infraction.
    And sometimes the penalties are meaningless.

    If the accident had happened earlier, Max would have had time to pass everyone all over.

    He had a 5 second penalty for the stupid track limits to overcome. He needed to pass as quick as possible to try to get 5 seconds ahead.

    Against Max, you have too. 7 laps left means ALOT of time to overtake him. He's extremely defensive. You do the overtake not in the corners but in the DRS zones provided you have ERS charged up as well for the overtake.

    Anyone else, the answer would be no.

    I actually race. Those are the rules. Driver in front can move. Driver in front owns the line or his line. Only give space once overtaking driver front wheel at your door. Responsibility of clean pass always on passer. Lando could have avoided contact. Instead he would not be bullied and both lost.

    Didn't Perez get a 3 grid penalty for doing the same thing a couple of races ago? This is Lando's car btw. Why didn't Lando get a 3 grid penalty for this? I get that drivers will ALWAYS drive their car back to the pits regardless of the damage but the penalties have to be consistent!! (wishful thinking).

    Others drivers should not change their winning mindset because Verstappen hasn’t rightfully punished for his track antics years before..( 2016 in my mind for instance).

    Move under braking?? You race in F1?? Did you see Anthony Davidson explanation on SKY? He drove in F1, WEC and is sim driver currently for Mercedes. His assessment is about F1 Sporting code. No reference to track day amateur rules that do not apply. Max was penalized under F1 rules. You do understand yes?? The Stewards have all the data from both cars more than one watching with his amateur rules in mind. Max caused a collision. Its rather simple. Please call the Stewards and let them know you race.

    There are significant fans of Max on this forum who have agree'd with that F1 Stewards assessment. Objectively both have responsibility, both drivers. Max was penalized for having much more of the blame for the contact. Any driver moving under braking is aggressively and late is more like an 'amateur'. So there are definitely defined situations where the 'driver in front' is utterly wrong.

    those rules are in F1 too. They are simple rules we all race by. Simple. Stewarts do not always employ rules or sanctions with consistency like post 272. We can all have an opinion but we do not control the results.

    Max, like Schumacher is a kind of driver that will never « learn « from this kind of situation because of their deep instincts.
    The only way they change something is to punish them ( like they did with Michael after Jerez 1997).
    And I was a big Michael’s fan ..
