I don't agree. I know more than one driver who has multiple million dollar cars, including a road legal Senna GTR. He drives them all and lets friends drive them. Hard to paint the "million-dollar buyer" with one brush these days, especially with youtubers abound.

And the relative value argument is bogus once you look at the 911 market. Also, the guys buying these already have Porsches and ford gt's. These people are not limited to one expensive car at a time.

Emotion drives this, not logic. I used to cater to these clients at my old race shop, trust me, for most the economic "sense" of it was never brought up.

I did the GoldRush Rally with 100+ others, mostly billionaires and 100-millionaires. And they all had 10+ very expensive cars and drove the piss out of them. I don't know the pebble beach crowd, I only know those that race and drive these toys.

For some reason, I suspect the "YouTube" "Gold Dust" crowd will not be that interested in Maranellos. Old school v new school. But I could be wrong.

BTW, just to be clear, I don't understand the collector mentality. To me that would be like having multiple wives. The ONLY reason I would buy a Maranello again is to drive it. It is a modern old school car. Making a second to third shift under power is beyond priceless. Someday sooner than later, I'm going to step on a rainbow. Time is not on my side.

holiday week Monday. Buyers were not online. I would never let my car auction end on a Monday, especially during a holiday week!

In one of my companies, we buy and sell a lot at auction, it is really a problem to sell on such a day. Its great to buy on one if there is no reserve!

I think we’re going to drive ourselves BATty trying to analyze something so irrational as what drives prices and sales over there…and while I like being able to chime in and try to set some people straight, I could do without the unwashed masses being able to weigh in. Self-overvalued opinions are the Achilles heel of the digital age…IMO.

Every auction this week, unless really rare or special, will bid to/close at/sell for less than during a non-holiday week. People just are not online. HORRIBLE time to sell something!

@mjh Yeah yeah….holiday week but why did the owner let this 575 go? You called it out earlier but didn’t include the link.

what did we miss?….short term hold….serviced….he claims he is ready to move on to another car but that has to be a material loss and a short hold…. 8-(

I don’t recall getting the BaT notification on this one.

$80k for the 33k miles is surprising….guess we’ll see what the current Argento does….

if serviced driver 575’s get back to mid-to-low $70’s my wife will be very upset…

I agree, not sure why the sale. Assume it’s a distressed sale. Economy sucks and lots of people are over extended.

80, plus fees plus conversion is sub 140k for a manual. That’s a deal!

Jim- Ask them. Photos show F1. 3 pedal would be much more expensive.

That Argento car is what I’d bid on if I were in the market. I’m not even a huge silver fan as far as 575s go, but the silver over that tan interior is hot as snot!

I’ve often wondered if maybe red holds value back just a smidge? 575s are not exotics for the blatant extroverts among us, so I do wonder if more subdued hues are viewed a bit more favorably amongst the shoppers. That said, I positively love red (even though I’ll never have another red Ferrari, period) and yellow on the 550. Front bumper and headlight design work better with those colors.

Totally my opinion and not a slight to anyone’s color choice, of course. Plus I’m mildly colorblind, according to the FAA anyway. :)

When I bought my black 575, the dealer also had one in red/black. We talked about it, not as a possible purchase by me, and they mentioned that, in the UK, front engine in red are hard to shift as tastes have changed. It's the cheapest advertised 575 in the UK and still unsold.

Do we know who ended up with it? Looks like it had sticky issues, but seems fine otherwise.
