I rapidly looked and found many many mentioning the problem and threads with questions, comments, links to SNM or similar but not DIY tutorial.
    I'll check again

For the stickies on my Cali T, the Ferrari dealer redid them recently, quite well. There are a lot of commercial products from that era with sticky surface issues. It seems to be a thing of the past now as the lifetime degradation of the new processes got figured out.

90%+ isopropyl alcohol + terrycloth towels + a LOT of patience = no more stickies! I have done this on 355 & 360 in the past. It's a shame that Ferrari can't learn to coat frequently touched surfaces in something that doesn't turn to goo in warm/humid climates. Good luck!

That "era" was from early 90's to 2018. And the new switches you buy from Ferrari will turn sticky too.
There was nothing to "figure out", Ferrari just chose to dump this problem to their customers. They could have fixed it back in the 355 days when they started using the coating that turns into goop. Instead they continued until at least end of the Cali T.

That does not work on the newer models, total different coating. This is what happens when you try to do that on the new models like the 458, California, etc. Bad advice on Ferrarichat cost this customer over a thousand dollars.

I see Robbie. Thanks for the advice.
However, I am based in France... Therefore it is not that easy shipping around and especially in the US (taxes/customs)...

By DIY, trying to save time and money there...

OK but the shipping cost are definitely too expensive (+ risks + customs + taxes).... on top of your prices ;)

Elite auto in Vitry (outside of Rennes) does professional sticky remediation.

there is a long post on ferrarista.com by Mike051 detailing the work on his 612.

You can either experiment with DIY and risk ruining a lot of things, you can order new parts from Ferrari for $15k (that will go sticky again), or you can accept the fact that this will cost a lot of money and is part of the Ferrari ownership experience.

The work on 612 is irrelevant, the coating is different.

    I know you guys rock!

Any idea what the dealerships charge for the disassembly/re-assmbly? Is that factored into the total cost? Or separate cost to be paid directly to dealership?

    Cheers

Every dealer/shop is different, not sure what their hourly rate is. That would be separate of our costs.

This wasn't the case with my 2010 Cali, alcohol pads took all of that off. You're half right, using a terry cloth did not work well at all it just smudged the goop around which is what looks like happened there but using alcohol pads (many of them) took all the goop off and left it with a smooth finish.

I have never seen anyone use them and they stay the nice matte finish, if the parts don't get ruined they turn very shiny. Like they were painted in gloss black.
