I love my 308 and don't think I'd trade it for anything, but a Lamborghini Urraco P300 would make me think about it.

I would not trade it but if I did it would be for something modern like a BMW Z4 M40i. But I just don;t like all the electronics on new cars.

    A 928.

I would never trade my 308 but just for the sake of conversation - a Porsche 928 would be it.

The last year with the old style taillights.

I owned an 83 5 speed about 10 years ago. I regret selling it.

There's a whole lot of cars I like, but in the same price range there's none I like better than my 308 GT4. Plus, it's been my dream car all my life, so it would be really difficult to find anything I'd be interested in trading it for anyway (even if it was of higher value). I did, however, have a "back-up list" — a list of cars I'd seriously consider if for some reason I couldn't find or buy the 308 GT4 that I wanted. I wouldn't trade my 308 GT4 for any of these, but these would have been fine cars to own had I not found what I truly wanted. Here's that list (in no particular order):

    Lamborghini Urraco
    Alfa Romeo Montreal
Alfa Romeo 1750 (or 2000) GTV
    Alfa Romeo GTV6
    Datsun 240Z
    Porsche 911 (G50)

They sound great under full throttle. I think Magnum almost drove a 928 Dr. Tommy.
I remember there was an episode with a decent chase between a 928 and Magnum in the 308.

I had an ‘82 as a daily driver for 10 years. Simply magic. Have a ‘79
Euro 5speed waiting on me to restore. Probably be the one car from my small collection that I would keep.

I drive my 328 with the top off on weekend mornings -- hot or cold -- and I can't think of another car that I would enjoy more and at the same time gives enjoyment to people seeing it. Its pretty, quirky, fun to drive, and an adventure every time you start it. And I reminds people of the dreams they had as youngsters. The car they all wanted and never could get.

I've had people tell me to "never sell it", because it would be like selling their childhood dream.

    Hard to beat that.

That being said, I bought her a sister. A Fiat Dino Spider because no engine sounds like a Dino and I wanted something I could drive from the 60's. Still in the restoration process.

Tn Europe the current Alpine A110 makes a good case for itself - light compact fast enough with working modern toys (cruise/air/DCT etc etc)

My everyday driver is Durango Hellcat. My toy car is a 1982 refurbished 308. Both cars have the same value but they serve very different purposes. I really wouldn't be happy if I had to pick just one. If I was going to replace the 308 it would have to be something from the 60's or 70s that was equally as fun to drive. I've already owned Porsches from the 60's, 70's and 80's. I would not trade back. Pantera's are too fragile to be considered equal fun. Everything else that excites me is not comparable in price. I am considering building a Daytona Coupe. It has the right rawness and with a modern engine it would be next to zero maintenance. I have considered a new z06, not really comparable in price. What I haven't said is that either of these would make me sell the 308. The 308 is simple and easy to find parts for. Once you refurbish one they become fairly reliable.

Sadly, I have to say its going to take a much more expensive car to force the 308 out of my garage.

I always figured that if my left knee ever went out I'd swap for an Alfa 4C but in regards to a classic replacement I'd go for a '63 XKE.

I have an E type ('65 FHC) and driving both the 308 and E back to back in the same day is interesting. One with a high revving low torque engine, sitting towards the front axle, ahead of the center of mass, and the other with low revving high torque engine, sitting near the back axle and behind the center of mass. Dynamically so different.

I'd trade it for an E-type coupe or 360 coupe but for now Im happy to keep the 308.

I had an Alfa 4c for about 3 years. What I would suggest with a bum knee is try getting in and out of it a few times. Its not easy, particularly getting out. IMO, the 360 Modena might be a better choice.

If I ever do manage to get a 308 I think the only thing I may consider replacing it for would be a 355B, if I could fit comfortably in one.

Great thread! Man, this is a tough one. The 308 & 328 checks all the boxes.

    - Unique and unmistakably a Ferrari
    - Iconic and rare enough it's a head turner
    - Conversation piece
    - Smiles from young and old
    - Not too pretentious
    - "Simple" enough for DIYers to perform most maintenance
    - Parts are readily available and at relatively affordable prices
    - Reliable
    - A blast to drive!
    - Christie Brinkley

    I can't do it. I can't trade mine.

Interesting...I sold my 2015 Z4 35i in order to buy my 328. The Z4 was a great little car, but it felt heavy for its size, and the throttle pedal was heavy too, typical of BMWs. Also the console display was a little wonky and seemed like something from the 90's. It's a very pretty car and fun to drive, but I wouldn't trade back.

How's that Fiat Dino restoration coming along? I remember when you started posting about it.
