If we turned to the original naked Olympics there is no need for a gender test

Thanks mate. I had the original three shots (or was it four?) but haven’t had any for a couple of years.

Must admit today’s been pretty bad. Hopefully that’s the worst of it over.

And yes, it is relatively cheap scotch, but not totally rubbish! :p

Perhaps I better pour one. Might make me feel better…

    Bah! It’s a sniffle!

And the vaccine effectiveness at preventing infection with current variants is about 50%, so about the same as the flu. I don’t bother with either. The risk of hospitalisation and death etc is low.

I agree not a lot of point in ongoing vaccinations (hence why I haven’t bothered) but I do get the fluvax each year through work.

The weird thing about covid is how differently it affects different people.
Chloe’s symptoms have been nothing more than a mild cold, but the joint and all over body aches I’ve had yesterday and today are the worst I’ve had since I had the flu many, many years ago.

And I remember my sim instructor in Texas last year was an ex Top Gun fighter pilot (literally) who nearly died from COVID, lost his medical, and now the most he can do is be a sim instructor.

    Go figure.

Delta was bad, really bad. It’s the first time in my 35 years of practice that I have seen 2 whole surgical wards in the hospital I work in turn into an infectious diseases ward and filled with really sick patients with COVID. Now it’s basically a flu like illness or in your case “man flu” :p

If you have a blue nose you will be fine - blue tongue short of oxygen or is that just for Horse?
Get well soon to you both!

Thanks! I spend a lot of time on that website.

I’ve promised myself (and Chloe has given her blessing) that I’ll do that type rating one day.

But I do wonder if it could be done cheaper elsewhere.

I think, in WW2, trainee pilots moved to Spits straight from Tiger Moths?

Probably more likely to be Chipmunks, but whatever it was they certainly didn’t have much flying time before jumping into Spits.

Imagine how terrifying / exhilarating that would have been! :)

Read the fabulous book "Heroes of the Skies" by Michael Veitch, in which he interviews Aussie WW2 flyers. The Spitfire guys in it typically went from Moths to Avro Anson then Miles Master. 10 hours before going into battle.

Interestingly, pilots who trained for fighters often ended up in Lancasters and Liberators, such was the loss rate for bomber crews. A lot of Liberators were lost over New Guinea because the maps had the height of the mountains wrong. So much tragic waste.
