Not a fan of the looks of a Mexico. Love the Ghibli, Mistral and Indy. Post some pics of your Indy, can’t remember the last time I laid eyes on it.
Shocking things ,when I lived in Clifton Hill there was one ,I drove it a number of times as the owner was a VHRR member -Rubbish car
Here you go: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login I'm looking forward to having it running well and reliable for the 2035 GG
Shows how long it’s been since I’ve seen it. I remember it as Gold Just sell it FFS, you have too many cars just sitting there. Put it towards the Daytona fund
Went for a test drive in the Mexico, and decided its not for me. The condition, etc. was all OK but for me it wasn't sufficiently enjoyable to drive. The gear-lever is way far forward and you almost need to shift / lean forward in the seat every time you change gear and this sapped the pleasure....
David,My '74 can be for sale. The buying saga from the aforementioned car dealer in Sydney (and Melbourne) can be read on here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/what-personal-plates-should-klink-get-for-the-new-365-gt4-2-2.652095/page-20 It has now been at at my,and plenty of others' on here, mechanic Enzotech since November. It is now ready for the 15th running of the GG. The incorrect diff ratios and casing are now back to factory. The original numbered gearbox has now been reconditioned. The carburettors have now been rebuilt. The LH window motor has now been rebuilt. The whole dealer and 'trusted' broker experience has left a sour taste and is the primary reason it can be available....but I wanted it to be correct when that happened. You can see the car on page 9 of that thread but to start reading the dramas and wins of this car it starts on page 20. Here is a pic I took in '94 when I competed in TT in a Volvo P1800,Chris Stephen was the owner and he did a couple or 3 in it prior to swapping to an ISO Rivolta. I believe it was one of 2 or 3 white ones delivered in Oz. It would be best to 'conversation' me and we can chat on phone or email....I was alerted to this thread by a couple of other's on here,I don't visit much anymore. Simon.
Well, it sort of is, gold that looks like bronze Ok, good idea, I'll sell it. Any takers, or I should ask you to sell it, you'll get 30% over market like you usually do.
I thought you were not going to sell after all the work you've done to it? The whole dealer and 'trusted' broker experience has left a sour taste and is the primary reason it can be available Surely all that is behind you? And they came to the party in the end didn't they?
No,I had to pay for half the diff and all the import duties/freight. Goood luck with pretty much any classic car dealer IMO.
OIC. I think you got off lightly, they weren't under any obligation to fix it were they? (Unsure of the statutory obligations in N.S.W. however) I've only ever had positive experiences from dealers and auction houses. I've found them upfront and happy for me to perform inspections on their hoists with my tools. Perhaps I have been lucky. I've had friends with horror stories around the second tier Auction houses however.
Agree, FFS, CTS sell USED cars, most often on consignment and more often than not how the **** would they know every single issue with a car. There is no warranty. There are realistic and unrealistic buyers, simple as that Which dealers can you name that gave good service?
Autohaus Hamilton 930 928 S Porsche Centre Sydney South Service BWA Auto Parts Healey Factory 308 GTB Ferrari Melbourne Parts Classic Throttle Shop 928 (Although the deal fell through, they were very accommodating with my somewhat invasive inspection of it) Shannons Auctions 911 E 2.4 (Although the deal fell through, they were very accommodating with my somewhat invasive inspection of it) Porsche Centre Melbourne Cars, service and parts. Mercedes-Benz of Melbourne As above Mercedes-Benz of Toorak Parts David Ekberg Rolls Royce and Bentley BMW Melbourne A long time ago, parts Bib Stillwell BMW As above And a host of subcontractors and specialist metalworkers, machinists and engineers. And whilst where here, lets put a hand up for Murray Glegg. Despite being a cross dresser, there's not too many repetition and water jet cutters/fabricators/engineers that make torque plates for Columbo V12 emulating the precise grade of aluminium the factory used for the cylinder heads. I've met some horrors too, but those people get weeded out very quickly, consigned to the sands of time years ago.
CTS x 2, great to deal with, I had a detailed inspection done on the 575 including a compression and leak down test (which I paid for) and they were very accommodating Shannon’s x 2 - Auction, took my chances and got lucky both times Autohaus Hamilton x 1 for me. Will be taking the C3.2 back to them to look after I’ve bought plenty of cars from private sellers too, same story really, no issues because I don’t expect them to sort out any problems AFTER I’ve bought it. It’s called buying a used car and not whining
I don't think it's luck -But experience in buying and dealing with the right people. Perhaps I was lucky in that I grew up with a parent who bought high-end cars quicker than most people order a coffee! I've never in all the dozens of cars I've owned done a PPI or put a car on a hoist, most times a quick drive around the block,I call it experience. I bought numerous cars without driving or sitting them, including O/Seas purchases, and never got caught out. I don't buy rubbish or story cars and don't deal with backyard dealers or mechanic shops for several reasons. Experience with new and used dealers -Ranging from Rolls-Royce ,Bentley ,Porsche Mercedes Benz ,Landrover ,GM,Ford and others never a major issue .repairs and service only ever dealerships or ex-factory people. Luck NO Experience...
Frankly it's not for you or anyone else here or elsewhere,to discuss if and why anyone should want to sell,or buy for that matter, anything. That is for the owner to decide.
Then don't post those thoughts about selling in a public forum. It's not for you to decide whom should respond. The reality is that you've been through a journey with that car and I'm sure we'd all love you to keep it.
IMO Simon is a guy that does long hauls to venture to the various events we all do, which in turn are often 2,000km runs. Like a few others on here, he would be far better off with a water-cooled 911 that would be reliable, soak up the long haul miles and forget the romantic notion of those type of Ferrari cars be it a 4-seater V12, or a V8 .
