Max was scrappy today. Not his best race. His team totally messed up the strategy which didn’t help. He was lucky to finish at all considering the aerobatics display he put on after coming together with Ham. Fair play to Ham for calling it a racing incident, when he could easily have pushed for a penalty.

But what the hell is going on at Ferrari? Now 4th best team on the grid. Unacceptable.

How does Max escape a penalty for overshooting the curve and hitting Hammy?

Easy for Hamilton post-race to let it slide and not dig in on Max, because when all was said and done, it was Hamilton who benefited from the incident.

I think his reaction was strongly based on the outcome, and I think the Stewards’s decision was also.

A lot to take away from this race :

    1. Oscar's first win tainted by entitled tw@t
    2. Max not good under pressure (still)
3.McL are the new clown strategists (Ferrari sigh with relief)
    4. SAI and LEC have nothing between them, and there shouldn't be
    5. LH beat the princess for a change
    6. Max and LH are allowed to crash into each other with no penalties
    7. Post race interviews were all about damage limitation to each drivers ego (not Max, he kept pointing fingers)

    CAN'T WAIT FOR SPA

Word is that the "upgraded" floor on the Ferrari was a disaster that made the car slower.

Well, of *course* Max isn't good at passing: it's been a while since he had to pass anyone. :p

Lando was given priority pitstop to protect his podium chances and that was the only reason he undercut Oscar. Quite right that the team swapped them back around and it was somewhat of a dirty psychological move by Lando to have pounded in hard laps at that point and make the swap so difficult/obvious - I'm sure it made Oscar's first win, which was earned, somewhat anticlimactic.

Oscar looks like the new Kimi, very muted emotions.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I don't know about the moved under braking part. It looked to me like Hamilton turned into the corner while leaving over a car's width for Verstappen. Verstappen, meanwhile went red mist full send and wasn't making the corner even if no contact.

Mad Max had a really bad day. Dumb driving, petulant whining, and someone at RBR needs to sit him down afterwards to remind him he's an employee.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Looking forward to Mad Max crumbling at Spa again behind McLaren, just scratch him and the real life little **** is revealed yet again.

So seven different winners in 13 races. But Max has won seven of them. Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren have won two races each, split between their two drivers. That is obviously a good enough percentage for Max to win the 2024 WDC. As for his personality flaws...on a bad day he seems to be as petulant and cranky as all of his competitors. Piastri and Sainz and Russell seem to be the most composed no matter what happens. All the teams look ready for the summer break after Spa. I get the feeling the second half of the season will be even more intense.

yes I understand that. but again….Lando gave up a race win and max points (excuse the pun) over his title rival to be “fair” to the number two driver on his team who isn’t in the title fight at the moment. that might be magnanimous but it’s not WDC behavior.

Lando is an employee and his employer directed him. It’s not rocket science at all. How McLaren deal with the fallout is a problem they will sort!

Vettel was an employee at Red Bull, ignored their instructions and retained employment (and a 4th WDC)…. :)

he’s 40 behind Lando and 100+ off Max, I don’t think he’s realistically in the title fight

It's interesting that Max avoided Lando's "dive bombs" in Austria 2x yet Lando didn't avoid Max's "dive bomb" in Austria nor Lewis didn't avoid Max's "dive bomb" in Hungary.

Here’s another fun little stat: Every driver at Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes has a win this season except one.
