I looked today and he's still more than three races clear at the top of the table, yet he's carrying on like there's one point in it!

Truth is, I only liked Max because he beat Hamilton when he was behaving like a ****.

I wish Ferrari had signed Oscar. Then we would have something to get excited about.

In the meantime I'll support Aussies and various other drivers I like (like Alonso ) and come back to Ferrari when they have a car and driver team worth supporting (That said, I do like Charles).

Both Aussie/Italians so obviously they know how to drive (no overtaking on double lines over blind crests)

The others have improved

 

That's my thoughts also, but I reckon a little bit of wind has been taken out RBR wings since Newey has gone on holidays.

 

Also McLaren recruited some key Red Bull engineers at the end of 2023, which is why their 2024 car has most of the same design aspects and is much improved.

Mercedes only got back in the game when they dumped their own ideas and started copying RB too.

 

Why didn’t Ferrari do same? copy?

 

They do, just not quite as well. IMO they have a fundamental problem.

There are a lot of clever people involved in F1, but only a fraction, call it 1%, actually create breakthrough ideas. Within the orbit of the 1% are people who are smart enough to keep up and apply or improve the ideas, call them 5%. The rest prefer to apply existing solutions to new problems and make, at best, incremental progress.

The 1% F1 engineers are mostly British. The 5% stay near the 1%. They live in pleasant parts of the country and it's home.

Ferrari are competing for these people but have a mixed reputation - the glory of the past vs lots of politics and having to move your family to Italy. Renault are UK based but French managed - ugh.

It's not hard to see why the top performing teams are 100% UK based.
