This kind of racing exists today because there is no risk attached to it.

Cars are now so safe that contacts have hardly any consequences.

It also makes racing less interesting, IMO. Physical risk was an important ingredient when F1 started.

Now it doesn't exist. So drivers are encouraged to be bold to make a pass.

I do find it funny that when Max moves under braking, he's the bad man.

Yet when someone else moves under braking, Max somehow is still the bad man.

Less and less impressed with him as of late, he needs to relax just a smidge.

The words of a very pi**ed off and spoilt brat:

Revealed: Every word exchanged between furious Max Verstappen and Gianpiero Lambiase: PART-1.
    Lap 3:
MV: “I got forced off. I was ahead at the apex, and he opened the wheel and got forced off.”
    GL: “Understood, Max.”
GL: “Max, the incident is under investigation. I think our recommendation is you let this go, we can talk about it later. So if you let Lando past down to Turn 1.”
MV: “Why couldn’t they not just say what they think and then we decide? ****
MV: “OK, so you can just drive people off the track then? Then, you can tell the FIA that’s how we’re gonna race from now onwards – just driving people off the road.”
    Lap 36:
MV: “I’m minus five brake bias and the thing just doesn’t f**king turn. It’s unbelievable.”
    Lap 41:
GL: “Mode 9, or press and hold the overtake -”
    MV: “- Why? Why Mode 9, it’s s**t.”
GL: “Then press and hold the overtake if you’re in Mode 7, Max, thank you.”
Realising that not clearing Hamilton had doomed him to third place, at best, Verstappen’s criticisms of the strategy began to come forth.
    Lap 42:
MV: “It’s quite impressive how we let ourselves get undercut and just completely f**ked my race.”
    Lap 54:
GP: “Well, that’s some gentle introduction.”
MV: “No mate, don’t give me that bulls**t now. You guys gave me this f**king strategy, OK? I’m trying to rescue what’s left. For f**k’s sake.”

But the contact max made with ham was egregious and dangerous. Norris was at the limit and arguably wasn't dive bomb. Max never had a chance to make that work. The most dangerous guy on track is the unpredictable one.

I think we are going to see a very dramatic Max the remaining of the season.

He's fighting 2 Mclaren drivers, 2 Mercedes drivers and possibly 1 (2??) Ferrari drivers(on occasion).

Perez is NO WHERE to be found to help out Max. He's MIA.

The overtake maneuver was obviously very ambitious to say the least. However, verdict of the stewards was that Hamilton could have left Max more space than he did now (actually he was moving under braking - which is simply not allowed - but Hamilton hardly ever get penalized). Who knows what would have happened if Lewis had given Max that one extra meter which was available?
Why is there never an overtaking incident between Max and, say, Leclerc?

Lewis could have let Max by and play Max's overshoot to his favor and "undercut" Max and then taken the lead without incident.

    That's my 2 cents.

True, it's often the same people who "get involved" in overtaking incidents.
Max and Hamilton had plenty of "encounters" in the past already.

Why should Sir Lewis Hamilton give Max a half of a meter? Max is the one in the championship fight not Sir Lewis Hamilton. Imo he should not give Max nothing, Max has more to lose, he should make better decisions. Why does he expect one to give him space during a battle, he wanted Norris to give him space the other race.

Kyviat was called the torpedo for doing similar but max gets a pass. Then there is crashdor maldanado. How is what max does any different when he can't get his way? Max only had racecraft on a fast car. When that Fails him he resorts to bullying.

Max gave Norris space 2x at Austria because Norris overshot the turn.

There have been several "moving under braking" moves at that turn in Austria. Videos were provided in the Austria Race thread where drivers "moved under braking" with no incidents.

It can be done provided the one giving space is watching his surroundings.

awesome, so if you're not in the championship you can just ram others of the road then. Duly noted.

Like I said earlier, poor management of Max's anger on GP's side.

GP should've said that Norris had Piastri on his inside therefore he wasn't forcing off Max intentionally.

The strategy was atrocious. In Austria the team lets him down with a piss poor pitstop (leaving him open to the norris attack in the first place). Silverstone the strategy wasn't brilliant either. 3rd race in a row.

Max is here to win titles not win awards for ''nicest choir boy in the paddock"

Moving under braking has nothing to do with what I'm saying. I was responding to you saying if Sir Lewis Hamilton gave Max a meter. Did you understand that?

As Rosberg noted, Hamilton moved while he was already within the corner - whereas he could have moved less (not closing the turning radius), that's moving under braking while still in the straight line that is not allowed.

What Lewis did was illegal. He moved under braking = too early. The extra meter is not a "gift", Lewis was simply obliged NOT to turn in while braking

Moving under braking didn't cause the accident. All of that is avoidable. Max showed poor driving buy loosing control and forcing an incident.

I’d love to see an overhead comparison of Hamilton line when he normally took the corner vs when Max slammed it up the inside.
Couldn’t find by googling, anyone know of one?
