Rumours claim that the management at Alpine could start to work with Mercedes as early at next season.
Mercedes would supply them with power units, gearboxes and rear suspension (like Ferrari does with Haas) and even provide some unspecified technical support.

They certainly need something radical to happen.

I am going to assume you meant 2025, not 2015.

Renault and Mercedes being relatively small as car manufacturers (Mercedes is big as truck manufacturer, not as car manufacturer), I wonder if they could end up merging into a new group, given the cooperation already in place for engines, small commercial vehicles, and so on.

That would be the downfall for both, I think.
Mercedes has been suffering quality issues in the last 15 years; a merger with Renault would make things worse, IMO.

    Now its moving on!

Renault launches study on future of Viry engine facility amid F1 project review
Renault personnel have been informed of a potential change of direction for its F1 engine factory

Renault has launched an evaluation study to decide on the future focus for its Viry-Chatillon engine facility, amid a growing likelihood that it will end its Formula 1 power unit project.

Autosport has learned that Renault’s senior management earlier today informed staff at the French factory, which runs engine manufacturing for the Alpine F1 team, about the ideas being discussed.

Although no final decision has been taken, it is suggested that the aim of the study is to deliver a plan that ensures Viry remains at the heart of Renault’s sporting and automotive activities if its F1 involvement comes to an end.

There is believed to be a clear desire to push senior engineers and other staff at the French facility on to areas of new technology that will futureproof the Renault organisation.

This could include development of hydrogen power, alongside further battery technology work.

The changes will ensure that those staff currently working on the F1 project will still have a future at the company, even if it no longer produces engines for grand prix racing.

wasn't Andretti supposed to use Renault engines until Cadillac had their own ready?

    wink wink.

Farmin to leave his present job at Alpine for a different position at Renault.
A new principal to be announced soon for the troubled team.
I hope it would be Guenther Steiner !!! :D

    Good god, Renault.

Just pull the plug and SELL. This is is so sad to watch such an iconic brand become this disgrace.

I cannot see what's "ICONIC" in Renault. They mass-produce ordinary cars, of average quality and not too reliable.
I cannot see a Renault that would be desirable; people buy them on budget.

That hardly makes Renault iconic, IMO. Not like Ferrari, Bugatti, Maserati, Aston Martin, Mercedes, etc ...

This is the perfect entry point for Andretti and Cadillac. Andretti/Alpine...using the car Andretti has been developing with Cadillac for over a year. Not a swap of engines and all the issues in the current car that would create, but a whole new car with an engine and all the other running gear already developed for it. This brings money to an existing team...and also new management. Alonzo drove for Andretti at Indy...he might be a good fit at Andretti/Alpine.
