Not sure if the market is getting soft as those are the most common combinations out there. Without doing the research on these specific cars it's hard to say why they seem low. If these were other colors and had unique specs with a full engine-out service done the prices would rise.

 

I have seen a pretty dramatic shift in the Canadian market that's for sure. Seems people are more willing to let things go for reduced prices than a few months ago.

 

Since when has “resale red” been too common in a Ferrari market? Less common combinations are usually discounted.

 

Analyzing the TR market in a vacuum is pointless.

 

As u know i been following for more than a decade now so i was being nice pointing just BAT... most metrics point to an overall exotic softening.

 

That's the point, the market as a whole is softening. The vast majority of models move with the market.

Unless a model breaks out of its place in the F hierarchy, it's not very meaningful to say it appreciated or not.
The delta between the models may increase or decrease but in this price range it's relatively negligible.

I agree. Buyer did pretty well it seems.

 

The entire exotic and collector car market has definitely softened over the last year or so. There was a big run up in prices around 2021-22, and things started declining around mid 2023. I think they will probably stay soft at least until early 2025. If you have the cash, now is what we call a “buying opportunity.”

 

I don't know if it's "the entire" market, but certainly much of it. The usual, popular V-8 Ferraris, GT3 RS, good buying there. But try to find a Downdraft for under a million. Or, an F40 for less than three. I'll remember 2024 as the year somebody paid... twenty nine thousand USD... for a set of 550 Maranello luggage.

 

Fair enough. I’m not talking about the ultra high end, million Dollar plus market. I don’t play there. Over the last year, however, I’ve seen a large number of cars that would’ve sold for $200-500k just a few years ago sell (or have max bids) at 20-30% less than those peaks.

Your point about crazy luggage prices is a good one. I recently paid a little over 6k for a complete set of TR luggage, including dust bags, key chains and tags. Similar or even less complete sets were selling for nearly double that a year or so ago.

This almost brand new one got 350, the 512tr got 410 and a high mileage testarossa on BAT sold for 101k. Long live the TR

That “high mileage” TR on Bring a Trailer is interesting. The car sold on BaT in September 2021 for $80,500. The buyer put 2,000 miles on it and sold it on BaT this week for $101,000. The last major service was in 2016, and while the seller seems to have taken good care of it during the three years he kept it, he didn’t do any significant repairs or improvements. So … he bought a nice TR, enjoyed it for three years, and then sold it for a nice $20,000 profit. If this car is any indication at all of TR price trends, then I’d say the window to acquire one at a reasonable price is rapidly closing.

 

yea, the high mile one that just sold on BaT for $101k (94k miles) needs to be used as a comp for wear and tare so people can realize just how many car owners have unhooked their odometers, I have seen so called 7k mile cars with more wear.

Based on what? Testarossas have been on a steady upward trajectory since 2020. Looking at dozens of sales in the USA over the last year, $100,000 is the absolute floor for a decent one, and there is no reason to think that prices are going to decline anytime soon.
If you believe the buyer here could have bought an equivalent or better one for $65-70,000, which is what you seem to be saying, then please PM with details on where I can find that car.

Been following the market for years , it doesnt make me right or wrong but when you see that for instance Ryalex bough his on BAT for 100k and 60k miles thats one indicator, I owned 3 sold 3 in the past 6 years.

there are NO reasons a car with such high mileage and service due should have cracked more than 80k. Be my guest to believe otherwise.
