What you and I are witnessing is the inconsistencies (or favortism??) of the FIA stewards in the same situations. Nothing new. There have been videos posted with different outcomes. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hanna Schmitz appeared to be particularly stressed in Hungary. He is a champion and a fierce competitor as are all champions.
Yes saw that, but haven’t seen a simple top-down comparison. a lot of talk here and by Max about Lewis “moving under braking” (which Max of course knows a lot about!) but Im on the road and not able to watch in car footage.
I do not think that true. Ham owned that corner. The definition of divebomb is to get you car up to the other car door presenting yourself so that you are owed racing room before the other guy can react. The problem is the closing speed makes for miscalculation, contact, and unpredictability. Racing might look like chaos but it really is a chess game. The best chess masters have sublime racecraft. Sticking your nose in and hoping is not racecraft. Last race Norris not letting piastri by early and then retaking the lead showed lack of racecraft. Sainz slowing to give another driver DRS so a charging driver would be hampered challenging sainz later in the race is racecraft.
I’m assuming you saying Sir every time is meant as a joke, however if you’re serious could you please refer to Max as World Champion Max going forward?? It kind of reminds me of all the make believe Doctors in the liberal teacher world who insist you call them Doctor. You’re not a Doctor! lol
A lot of things they call Sir Lewis Hamilton here seems like a joke to me. I prefer to call him his actual title and real name. Call Max what you want.
But here's the thing...using this logic Max ''owned'' the austria T2 corner as well when he collided with Norris, as Max was well and clearly ahead by the time he started braking. Yet he got a penalty. How come when Max sends it up the inside of Lewis, and Lewis turning in on him, it's Max's fault? It's the same logic that saw Michael removed from the SEASON results when villenueve came up his inside in Jerez, Michael turned in on him and that was that. How come Michael was villified for that move but now Max is vilified for essentially being the victim (same position as villenueve)? Seems to me Max is being blamed because he's Max.
Doctor is an academic title given to those who have achieved a certain level of knowledge in different fields and passed exams to prove it. So you have doctors in science, in biology, engineering, etc ... not only Medical Doctors !
Seriously? If you can't see it you can't see it. I wanted MSC to beat VIL but really that was just a terrible attempt to put him off. MSC was never great at wheel-to-wheel racing and his competitive nature often got the better of him.
Not sure. I would have to see those other incidents again. When divebombing is involved it is always a matter of timing and degrees of where the cars are along side each other relative to closing speeds and track position. It is not an easy calculus. That's why divebombing is not considered a valid way to pass your opponent. It comes with high risk of penalty, high risk for success and high risk of failure. Experienced drivers don't do that. Everyone has a bad day. Max was having a bad day but lack the professionalism to just suck it up and drive. It was probably his poorest race not from where he ended but from how he got there. No one is perfect but his is a multi-WDC with another nearly in the bag. He was not playing the long game here. He took unnecessary risk at everyone's expense including the team and could have created collateral damage along the way. That is just not becoming of a multi-WDC. I expect that in the amateurs but perhaps that's where he learned it.
I will prove that Lewis turned in early. This was the point Lewis started his turn in: Image Unavailable, Please Login During his 2023 quali lap, this was his turn in point. Yes this was quali vs race lap, but your turn in point doesn't really change, your brake point does. Note that he was past the 50m board and just ahead of the little marshals stand: Image Unavailable, Please Login The same turn in point as his normal racing line, using the marshal stand as a reference. You can see Lewis is nearly 2 full car widths to the right. And his trajectory was angled towards the apex of the corner. Image Unavailable, Please Login Have your opinions if Max dive bombed or not, or if Lewis had to right to aim his car like that. That's not the point. I'm showing that Lewis 100% turned in early and the Stewards claiming Lewis took his normal racing line is 100% BS.
Regardless of who is to blame for this incident, the rules must be clear and governed strictly. If not, we can (and will) have endless discussions here like this one.
Not only that, but have written 100+ page dissertations on topics in their respective fields of study.
appreciate the efforts but a qually lap on fresh tires isn’t the same as race situation as you say, and an early turn in isn’t the same as “moving under braking”. Contact wasn’t made until max slid past Lewis near the apex. I believe the stews said Lewis could have done more to avoid contact which seems to be true, but that was well past his initial turn in point, when Maxs out of control RB was actually ahead.
I agree. I maintain it's a racing incident. Lewis turns in early to defend by his own admission and this is supported via video evidence. Cutting off the racing line, a passing lane, and every other lane up to the apex is a very risky move that can cause a collision. It's like being on a 4 lane highway and cutting across four lanes of traffic left to right. Even if you have the right to do so, if someone is going faster than you on any of those inside lanes, then a collision could happen. Max did this exactly move in Austria when he ended up colliding with Lando, just much less extreme, and most people called it moving under braking. Judge that how you want. In the video below you can see and hear Max clearly brake in a straight line on the inside of Lewis, but had to make a correction to his right while braking to avoid Lewis cutting across the track. Is this the reason Max locks up? Who knows. For sure there will be less grip at that part of the track compared to the first 2 lanes on the out side. But Max still has a responsibility to keep his car under control, and given he was throwing it in from so far back, a lock up was quite likely regardless. Given Lewis' choice to brake across the entire track in front of Max, and given Verstappen dive bombed him, the collision has to be considered a racing incident.
Thx for posting video. Reinforced just how fast these things happen, while we have the luxury of time to parse every millisecond. I didn’t know they both had to overtake a back marker deep into the straight, which distracted them both. Cool moment here when sparks from Lewis hit Max Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well Marko stated Max was doing online gaming the night before racing GP ? If true he’s just acting like a spoiled child. To my opinion this is hugely damaging the sport. Arrogant behavior. Unfortunately Mclaren are just too stupid to help Norris in mounting a real championship challenge..
They're almost all arrogant/petulant. Damaging to the sport? Bit extreme. IMO what's really damaging to the sport are either PR driven robots or DTS faking narratives. IMO RBR mismanaged the situation from the get go. Didn't tell Max the reason why he was forced wide. GP talks down on Max's outlap (which he had to do because of the ridiculous strategy he was given). Max and GP typically bicker like a married couple but in this case GP was just wrong constantly. Max has done the late hour sim racing before and still won the race so I don't see the issue. IMO there's a lot more to play behind the scenes and it's reaching it's boil over point. The team has been making mistakes, unsatisfactory upgrades, Perez is ****ing useless crashing the car for P17 half the time, which means even less money available for upgrades. Max is carrying that team right now and has done so since Miami and he doesn't feel he's getting the full support. If ANY other driver was in that car right now, would they be leading the WDC right now? I have sincere doubts in that.
