Only 50 to be made and Newey said it needs much work to be WEC capable. Its a toy to be traded out of the public eye by moguls who will display it rather than drive it. ----------------- In an exclusive interview with Autosport ahead of the car’s public unveiling, Newey said he feels the result of such a project “should be works of art that you're happy to display as such in your house or your garage”. “Derive enjoyment simply from the art aspect. And it must sound good,” he added. Newey said “it is possible” that the RB17 could one day race in the WEC and at Le Mans, but would require “quite a big redesign of, particularly, the aerodynamics” plus a different engine.
That makes it totally irrelevant in my eyes, just like a Bugatti , or a Koenigswegg, etc ... The type of "sport" cars that are never validated on the track. To be treated as a sculpture, and no more.
It's an asset that a multi millionaire or billionaire can add to their portfolio later to be sold for higher than the original price or they end up "flipping" it. An example is the Enzo when it debuted. Some "investors" flipped the car to sell it more than what was offered. Hey, it's thier money. They can do whatever they want with with regards to how the spend it....i.e. Lawrence Stroll for example in F1.
2 year warranty but don't dare drive it: 4000 km limit to the warranty ! I wonder if the engine is related to the Judd in the McLaren Solus
You are probably right, but that is completely outside my zone of interest. With that kind of disposable income, I would be more interested to invest in real estate or buying stock. I am not an art collector at heart.
The Jaguar XJR-15 LM(5 were built for a Japanese Yakuza by TWR) in the 1990's when the Mclaren F1 came out. The XJR-15 LM has a 7.4ltr V12 that pumps out 740hp (this is the exact motor that the Silk Cut Jaguars XJR-9 I believe use). These engines are limited in kilometers before they have to be torn down again. Btw, these XJR-15 LM's have WAAAY more horsepower than a Mclaren F1 BUUUUT were never tested at the Ehra Lessien track for its top speed back in the day.
They probably do have interests in real estate or buying stock among other things to add to their portfolio as well.
Agree…which is why I was shocked to see a Bugatti Divo being driven (the horrors!) on the street a few weeks ago.
The car looks cool. I love the blue, would sure like to know the paint code. The "faster than an F1 car" claim is always funny to me. We all know it will never be proven.
According to Sport Auto Moto, via MSM, Tsunoda could replace Perez at Red Bull in 2025 . Also Racing Bulls could have 2 rookies next year , with Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson. No news about Sergio Perez and Daniel Ricciardo, totally out of the picture in that scenario, Treat these news with caution, but some of it could turn to be true !!!
Marko says Red Bull ‘urgently in need’ of F1 summer break No you need a better leadership and etiquette / manners training for your so called 'lead' driver. The staff might need a break but the drivers and leadership do not make the same sacrifice at all.
Word is Red Bull were told by the Fia to remove a bunch of stuff from their car a while back (6 or so races ago), hence why they totally lost their dominance. So, they started the season and ran several races with what the Fia saw were illegal components, but did not ban them for a while. Wonder why though
I had the same question, I do not know. The source is a well-respected Spanish F1 pundit who is tight with a number of teams who gave him the scoop
The source didn't go into what those parts or components are, but the FIA deemed them illegal and RedBull had to remove these illegal parts.
IDK whether the rumor is true, but Red Bull clearly have dropped off rather suddenly. My guess is that an aero or ERS trick that they've been forced to stop, similar to how Ferrari's floor trick was banned in 22'.
what was Ferrari's floor trick in 22? I only remember their performance dropping off when they couldn't run the car as close to the ground due to regulation changes caused by Mercedes' complaining.
LOL!! Marko: No more late-night sim racing for Verstappen Red Bull’s Helmut Marko says Max Verstappen has agreed to no longer indulge in late-night sim racing on F1 weekends after he was criticized for burning the candle at both ends in Hungary.
Explains why Max was so upset in Hungary. They knew / he knew this was the plan. Verstappen set for Belgian GP grid penalty for engine change Max Verstappen is braced for a third consecutive Spa grid drop for taking a new combustion engine
