Well this car looks very familiar and I must say I would have specced it exactly as this! Congratulations!! She is truly beautiful! I’ll miss her.. Enjoy in good health. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
With only 2,700 miles my carbon fiber turned yellow. If you look at it closely you can see it especially compared to the carbon fiber piece by the latch and oil cap. I and everyone else actually like it because it looks custom and matches since the car is yellow - Giallo Tre Strati. Might be a different story if the car was a different color. Seems like reflection to me cos it’s a yellow car (quarters reflecting on opposite side pieces) and it’s not reflecting on the center piece cos it’s too far away. I did mine about 3k+ miles ago and they’re still as new. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I live in carbon fiber every day for the last 21 years ( prosthetic leg) it will do this due to heat. It is the resin used. You can see the center section around the oil fill did not turn but other pieces have. Either those pieces get way hotter than the center piece or the resin used is different or different manufacture altogether. My carbon fiber prosthetic leg parts no longer turn yellowish since resin and carbon manufacturing has improved greatly over the years but I've had legs and parts do this exact same thing. Also Porsche at one time had this issue badly but they fixed it many years ago.
It does look cool on his yellow one but if that ever happens on my black F8, I’ll freak the F out — did he mention which company he used for his? Mine is MyRicambi Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I agree heat, and the resin used. Thus as you pointed out the center piece is fine and was most likely manufactured separately. I can actually see yellowing way back when the car had 700 miles in previous pics. It bothered me at first but I've come around to it as a sort of "patina" if you will and everyone thinks it's yellow carbon fiber to match the paint. In other words they think it came that way. On another note I have seen this yellowing on other 488s and then I've seen cars that don't have it as well. Must have been a period of batches of resin that caused it. Here's one I saved that is really weird. Center piece under the window didn't yellow but the left and right side did. Luckily, mine is fairly even. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think the Lexan with slots in it helps dissipate the heat in the F8 over the 488– I also pop the hatch and open it after a drive for more cooling… hoping both these things keep mine from yellowing. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Home now after the long truck ride…. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Me too… it’s always been my second favorite Ferrari color… sometimes I look in my garage and imagine the Ferrari is yellow and the Porsche is black instead of the other way around. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Thank you gentlemen! I know what you’re saying. I’ve had a yellow 911, and have tried for a couple giallo Ferraris that didn’t work out. Love this color on both! Can’t really think of many other vehicles I’d have in yellow. Went looking for a Pista and when this was available, it was love at first sight as far as color! Very very happy with this one, and the look of it with the stealth PPF wrap.
