Following up, the fabricator who made the cup holder has now listed it on Etsy for purchase (he is open to making modifications and using different finishes). Just received from Etsy (Redline Mfg.). Excellent quality. Instructions and mounting hardware not included. (Nor represented). So before I start drilling away - has anyone installed yet? Hate being first. "Pioneers stand out. They have arrows in their backs."

I'm happy to help. On my car, the leather pad underneath the parking brake handle lifts out pretty easily (held in place with adhesive). The surface underneath the pad is "wood-like," perhaps resin-impregnated wood. I drilled small pilot holes and then used these screws, https://www.mcmaster.com/90930A196/ -- of course, any screw of similar dimensions would be fine, I just happened to have these. Guys, just curious: what the deal with Americans and cup holders??? Why would you need such a thing in a F355? I mean, I have one in my daily Audi and I never use it. And I wouldn't dare to bring anything but a bottle of water in my precious car.
So I can put my drink down and focus on my driving. Doesn't your bottle of water roll around and make a racket if it's not in the cupholder?

Honestly, I wish there was a more comfortable place for my right elbow to rest when I’m stuck cruising in one gear for more than five minutes. Having a non-intrusive place for a bottle of water is also a huge plus!
Personally I avoid to drink or eat in my cars. Actually not really. I usually don't have anything in the car except sunglasses on the console. And on really hot days I bring a 50cl bottle of water that lay beside the sunglasses on the console and it doesn't move. I thought you guys were using cup holder to ... hold cups no bottles. I had hard time to imagine someone driving a 355 with a giant coke cup (or worst a coffee cup) . I would be to afraid to make some stains.
Definitely not eating and drinking in the car. You just need a place to put your bottle securely. It must not be very hot there. We see temps over 38c regularly. You have to bring water or you will get headaches quickly. If it's an early morning meetup I might bring a RTIC tumbler of coffee, it seals well, but will roll around without a proper cupholder to hold it in place.
Outside europe having a takeaway coffee in your hand by all accounts a necessity; similar to your phone in your other hand!!! (I would say somewhere to put your beer, but we know how sensitive some are!!!!) We were in france again week before and really noticed the absence of takeaway coffees; really nice! sit down, order a coffee, take your time…a very different pace of life. (saddened to see the creep of the rubbish costa/starbucks into the service stations though. can you sort that before we are back in september please!!!) really like that cup holder design; will look at something this side of the pond; would be really useful for long drives

Altho the Etsy Redline Mfg. cup holder is beautifully made, I haven't found a satisfactory mounting solution for it. The ff2kracer installation above looks very elegant - like it ought to work - but in actuality the two wood screws are not nearly secure enough to handle the leverage of a beverage in the ring. The ring is never imobil. It moves around and will eventually pull/tear the screws out of the wood base and likely mar the surrounding leather to boot. IMO the better cup holder is the ashtray replacement variety. Horribly ugly? Yup, but dead stable with no damage risk. Until someone figures out a solid mount I wouldn't waste the $100 on Etsy.
I had no issue screwing it into place firmly utilizing 5/8 inch metal screws. In fact, it came in handy earlier today for a morning jaunt with a sparkling water that survived a few hard pulls and some fun with some roundabouts! Image Unavailable, Please Login

In an attempt to more solidly mount the Etsy Redline cup holder I'm welding a 5" extension to the existing 3/4" mounting bar with 6 additional screw holes down it's length. This will provide a total of 8 mounting holes thru which 8 flathead/countersunk bolts can be fastened into nutserts installed in the underlying wood panel. Metal fabrication $50 + powder coat $50 + screws and nutserts $10 = $110. Here's hoping.
Definitely acknowledge the possibility the screws could be pulled out of the wood. That said, I'm confused by your experience of the installation using this method being "not nearly secure enough". On my car, the wood is very dense and the screws fasten the holder so securely that you could bend the cup holder vertically without the screws pulling up. Again, I acknowledge it's not perfect -- and thought about a solution similar to your reinforcement/nutserts... but I think with nearly any amount of care and caution that's probably unnecessary. YMMV.
I share the same experience. 2 metal screws right into the wood material and this thing isn’t moving. Perfect for a 12 ounce can or small to medium bottle of water all day long. Very happy to have it and can remove it at any time if needed. Not to mention that it is not one bit intrusive to ingress, egress, or while driving.
