I believe the U.S had roughly 25% production allocation at the time. This implies roughly 1500 (370 x 4) 94/95 355’s worldwide. *Perhaps 50-100 of those designated as challenge cars. Alex, that is my final answer .
Fwiw, 1500 units is my rough estimate for worldwide Scud production numbers (08-09). @Matthias Urban thoughts on my 355 estimates?
3829 manual Berlinettas were produced for the entire run. 1500 94/95’s would equal roughly 39% of manual Berlinetta production. *Roughly 350 of 3829 are 94-99 challenge cars.
We also know 1042 F1 Berlinettas were produced between 98-99. Judging by how many manual Serie Fioranos there are out of 100 (26/100), my guestimate is roughly 25% of 98-99 355’s were manual. That calculates to roughly 350 cars. 1042 + 350 = 1392 1042/1392 = 75% 350/1392 = 25%. With that estimate, 355 manual Berlinetta production by MY should look something like this: 94-95 = 1500 96-97 = 1980 98-99 = 350 Total = 3830 (*minus 300-ish challenge cars) *3829 Manual Berlinettas (3458 LHD + 371 RHD).
Interesting because my spider is #102916 and is also a June 1995 build but with single fuel pump. So as NA cars go, and spider in particular, my car must be a pretty early NA spider given there were only about 15 dual pump cars on you list.
I see that, originally counted from my phone. 1995 Ferrari 355 GTS Dual Pump Cars 101154 101246 101272 101284 101310 101336 101351 101445 101471 101494 101518 101543 101687 101698 101712 (Oz) 101724 101741 101754 101767
I did a recount of the Spiders and arrived at 17 spiders. *Recalculates to 262 dual pump Berlinettas.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-ferrari-f355-gts-4/ #101844 has an Aug 1995 build. Although the VIN would indicate it is early enough to be dual pump (sub 102458) because this GTS was completed a few months after May 95, it didn’t get dual pumps. It appears there was a long pause in GTS completions and engine assembly might have been one of the final pieces. Dual pump GTS’ being completed in Feb 1995.
To put things in perspective, after May 1995, they pumped out roughly 235 Spiders, 30 GTS’, and 100 B’s for the U.S market the remainder of 1995.
I already know who has the lowest VIN . 1. 098673 - Silver/Black F355 Challenge. FNA owned. Raced as #1. 2. 098674 - Giallo/Black F355 Challenge. FNA owned. Known as the “Paul Newman” 355 since he drove it once in the series. Raced as #2. Written off. These two cars were imported together much earlier than any 355 to the U.S in preparation to promote the challenge series. I estimate them to be Sept/Oct 1993 builds based on VIN comparisons to 348 build dates. 3. 099902 - Nero/Nero. July 94 build. Dual fuel pumps. Single-piece center undertray design. Beautiful spec. Not sure what that blue looking thing is behind the passenger seat. Also the interior could use some refreshing. But what a combo.
