Yup.. Of course I was trying to look like him :)
I got to meet him once at professional drum shop Los Angeles I've never been very good at reading and I had a chart that I was going to have to play with my trio for Bobby Darren at the Copacabana New York ... When my manager gave me the chart I nearly passed out so I went to PRO DRUM shop to get some help Buddy Rich walked in
Bob the owner hey buddy take this kid in the back and go over this chart with him and he did he took me in the back played it twice as fast as it had to be handed me back the sticks walked out when I walked out Bob said you could not have learned that fast I said I didn't learn anything he just played it twice as fast and walked out
He looked over my shoulder in walked Louie Bellson big difference he took me in the back taught me the chart... What a very nice guy.

I wonder if the mileage is making some perspective buyers hesitate. I myself would not hesitate if I had the means. I believe it will sell, the price is right, and the car is a cream puff.

You met both Buddy and Louie for the first time on the same day?! Chuck Wackerman was my big band and jazz combo conductor so I got to know his son, Brooks, who was actually in the same band with me for one year...watching him play every day proved to be more beneficial to me than all the lessons I had taken! My last year with the bands was when we had Louise Belson as our fundraising concert. Buddy had already passed so Louise was the last of the famous legends and yes, I thought he was a very nice guy as well. Bill, this is making me want to find a jazz group to start playing with again

with a 100K miles for $150K? .... someone will really have to see the value of that particular car to pay that..probably a in person sale if the car really is that amazing, online highly doubt it will happen- Not knocking the car , anyone can ask what they want, just stating what i think is reality!

Contrary to belief high mile Ferraris has less Ives then low mile ones … I have 120k on mile on it has less issues then any of my much newer German daily drivers

completely agree with you, i love high mileage driven properly cared for F-cars, but also in real life they are worth less regardless of what you and I think, thats just the reality of the market!

well… a low mile 550 without shields sold for 330k at auction in cali. Is a 100k mile 550 worth less than 1/2 that also in Cali in a desirable color and interior?

Agreed. Not sure why anyone would compare this to a car with less than 10,000 miles. Especially with a ferrari. Value drops significantly once you get to 20-30k and again after 50 and again after 80 per history.

There is one for sale at 150k with 50k miles. (2 months and counting) so will be curious where both of these land at. Id never be scared to buy them with higher mileage but with ferrari the pool of buyers get smaller and smaller the more the miles go up.

    Remember gentlemen ...
low mileage lovers need not apply

Also I did not come up with the price this community did... I don't follow pricing on 550s I bought mine to drive and had no interest in what they cost or were selling for... My only interest for the past 15 years was driving it and looking after it!

    Me too!

I think this topic has been posted before, but if the car is to be driven, is there a minimum mileage and frequency of use that keeps the engine and running gear "healthy"? What brought that question to mind is, 15+(?) years ago, I was on a road trip to the East Coast and stopped by Ferrari of Washington for oil change, etc. There were two 550s in the shop with the heads off of the engine and the valves, etc. where caked with carbon and "deposits". Both cars were "low" milage and I assume just driven to the Country Club, etc.

It’s funny…..vintage Ferraris nobody thinks twice about mileage.

I used to say that Ferrari sold more odometers for Boxers than were cars built.

That's what I told my wife....Currently my 575 is worth nothing, keep it for 20 more years and a factory gated 575 with FHP might be worth something.

Just an opinion, the community coming up with the price means nothing, you should check the market, the community is full of pumpers that won't ever put up the unrealistic prices they quote. Its a beautiful car, and i'm a fan of the higher mileage cars...but if you actually want to sell it, check the market comps.
