I would take this with a grain of salt. Many auction houses are flexible as far as the truth is concerned.
The Raupp book is available at the local outlet store for $70. Is it worth the price? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Rather not in my opinion. To my personal taste the photography is awful. Not a pleasure to look at due to excessive use of filters and sunlight.
I looked at the website at bit, and the '59' is for sure an interesting subject. The total print run is less than 400, so it's an exclusive book. Marc Newson's involvement in the design of it all may appeal to some (look at the 'Taschen' Ferrari book). Production quality should be very high for these prices, unlike Kruta's EB110 book which I found seriously underwhelming. It's up to anyone to decide, but the whole thing smells like it's meant to be a quick money grab.
Does anyone have any experience with ordering books at Bull Publishing? 11 days ago, I ordered the leatherbound edition of "Enzo Ferrari" and the very next day, my credit card was charged with USD 500. But I never heard anything again except an automatic order confirmation. I asked about shipment, but no reply to my mail. And no hint that they are closed for holdiday or anything.
I haven’t ordered from them in years but as I recall the service was always good. It seems almost typical now that businesses are slow to respond to email. I enquired several weeks ago to see if they were planning any special editions of Ferrari in America. No reply. It’s frustrating when you’re ignored when trying to give a business your money.
They tend to be very slow replying to any requests, but they are basically decent people. For future orders I would use Hortons, who are now Bull's European distributors. Btw, do you know what is going on with Disch in Hamburg? The website has been blank for several weeks now with only the following text: Aufgrund eines persönlichen Notfalls aktuell leider nicht erreichbar! Aufgrund nötiger Wartungsarbeiten ist der Shop zur Zeit nicht erreichbar.
As the website says, there has been and still is a personal emergency. I am not authorised to disclose any details but let's all wish that Matthias will be well sometime however long it may take.
I think they used to be in Arizona. And yes, it’s a small company in a very tough business. Did you speak to someone?
I spoke to a young guy who was helpful. It sounded like an operator handles their calls for another company. Just ask for David Bull and they will put you through. I have many of their books and have always been impressed with their design and quality. Glad they are still kickin’.
Here's the prototype of the Lynch book. I looked at this Monday morning, 12th August 2024, in Monterey, CA. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
I hope they keep that cover. It’s pretty evocative. Who can identify everybody in the picture? It appears that there are two people in the car.
