Even worse: the first time Celso Lara Barberis was listed as driving a "750 Monza" was the "2 Horas de Interlagos" on 16-5 -1954

    Hi all,
for the "Prix of Berngarten" Nr.86 is given to Werner Ruf with a 166 MM in the entry list
and he (Werner Ruf) is also in the results (5.th in class "Rennsportwagen über 1.500 ccm")
No other Ferrari in the start or results list....

    best wishes,
    BjörnS

The pilot is not Bordonaro. May be 0158ED was entered by Werner Ruf ? Who knows ? The place is the same than #88 picture on my post #1642... 0158ED is not a 166 MM but matches with "Rennsportwagen über 1.500 ccm" as 0440MD was is the same class..

This pic (post 1657) shows 0068 M driven by Werner Ruf at the Prix de Bremgarten (Berne) 22 August 1954.
The car was still wearing the Torinese licese plates TO 148047 which it obtained 17 June 1953 (after having been bought 8 June 1953 by Adolfo Macchieraldo in Torino). That Italian plate can still be seen below the cardboard partially covering the front grille.
    Later in 1954 0068 M was re-registered on Swiss plates "VD 54107".
I have the paperwork for all that.

I should have noticed the big headlights which clearly eliminated 0158ED. Thanks Marcel !

I have found the entry in the brasilian archives : Celso Lara Barberis is listed with a 2.750 c.c.

Any idea which 250 MM? At the "1° 500 Milhas de Interlagos" on 8 -12-1962 Celso Lara Barberis drove chassis 0292 MM (0352 MM) (with codrivers Bird Clemente and Roberto Magalhães Gallucci) but that car was still in Italy in 1954.

I think I have found the car raced by Celso Lara Barberis at Interlagos on 16 May 1954. On 20 June 1954, there was another race here and Celso Lara Barberis raced what looks like to a Export Vignale spyder (see the picture : which one ?). You will agree most probably the same car...

Probably the Export Vignale spyder in the first half of 1954 (pic above) and 250 MM Vignale Spyder or may be 166 MM/53 Vignale Spyder with 3 liters engine 0290M in second half on 1954...

I have found a pic of the start of the Cem Milhas do Maracanã on 22 August 1954 but too poor quality to help.
At least, we can see a 225 S Vignale spyder but probably another competitor...
Another possibily is that pic in post #1663 shows Celso Lara Barberis in an older race than 1954 and that he really raced this 225 S Vignale Spyder in first half to 1954.
    Well... too much speculation...

That other competitor could be Arthur de Souza Costa in 0198 ET......

Why not but the more I read pages in brasilian newpapers the more I see it's a real nightmare ! For example, the picture in post #1663 is used in the newspaper for several races all allong the 1954 year ! I think only the starting pictures are the good ones...

Interesting newspaper clipping. If Google Translate can be trusted, "Celso Lara Barberis sold his 2000 cc Ferrari to Ângelo Juliano".
The earliest entry in my files for Celso Lara Barberis is for 16-5 -1954 (the 100 Milhas do Maracanã) with the 3 litre car but this suggests that he raced 0072 M before that date.

You may have noticed the pic in post #1663 shows an Export with the original Vignale spyder body. In 1954, 0072M already have received the new beautiful "Mexico" spyder body. Well... may be this pic with #46 B is much older than we think...

Found this: CELSO LARA BARBERIS - (47 anos) Piloto Automobilístico * São Miguel, SP (28/02/1916) + SP (07/09/1963) - PEIXES (recantodasletras.com.br)

It claims that Celso Lara Barberis won races in 1954 with a 2 litre Ferrari, which probably is 0072 M.

Contradictory is that one of these wins is supposed to be the "Cem Milhas do IV Centenário" on 28-11-1954, which is the same race where (according to my files) Ângelo Juliano raced the 0072 M he recently bought from Celso Lara Barberis

Found its ! Arthur de Souza Costa won the race with 0290M (166 MM/53 Vignale spyder with 3 liters engine) et Celso Lara Barberis was second with 225 S Vignale Spyder 0198ET (which matches with the 2.750 ccm entry in the older newspaper).
But what is very disturbing is :
    - the second pic shows the finish line with 0290M winning the race in front of 0198ET,
    - the third pic shows a pilot at wheel of 0290M which looks like to... Celso Lara Barberis !!!:confused::(

This suggests that Celso Lara Barberis and Arthur de Souza Costa had swapped cars as 0198 ET was the regular race car of Arthur de Souza Costa in the period 1953 - 1956....

Like you said before, South American races are a nightmare

I got it !! Very easy in fact !! :)The checkered flag was for Artur de Souza Costa and 0198ET !! He was going to pass Celsa Lara Barberis and 0290M !

Caption of the second pic was : "The arrival of the 100 miles. Celso Lara ahead, one lap behind, and behind, the winner, Souza Costa, while Santa Rosa waves the flag."
