    Hi Gang,
First time poster here. I'm looking at picking up a used Cali T. I found a few with relatively low miles (5k or under) but some report having 3, 4, or even 5 owners. Most of these owners drove only hundreds of miles per year.

I'm trying to understand if this is a sign that (1) the car has problems that every owner is passing on to the next, or (2) people were just buying these for the hell of it but not wanting to drive.

I can understand some owners buying entry level but new so they can get on a list for the more special models, but this just seems odd. Would love to get everyone's thoughts.

only 5 owners is better than many people's girlfriends. If maintenance is done and all in good condition be the 6th.

Be careful with low mileage on a Cali, once you start driving it a lot of issues are going to pop up just because the car hasn't been used much, that's what happened to me. With other Ferraris you would still have that issue but most people who buy low mileage like that plan to preserve it as such, i assume with you buying a Cali you plan to actually drive it. Of course as @fatbillybob said check the maintenance but again a lot of the issues haven't popped up yet because it hasn't really been driven, and worse that it has obviously sat.

Most Ferrari owners are terrified to drive their cars (never made any sense to me), because they are afraid of depreciation and maintenance.

I DD an F40 and never regret a mile. When I ran the Ferrari club and got people together, it was always "The guy with the least miles wins".

I've always felt that if you just wanted to look at it, buy a model...... it's cheaper and the maintenance costs won't break you! But you won't make memories and you'll just be able to show off for 12 year olds at C&C.

And often owners of Ferraris, or Astons, or etc. have multiple other cars and don't drive them all, all the time.

It's funny, as I read your post there was an FChat photo ad under it with a 10,000-mile 1993 348. That's 31 years of guys staring at a car in their garages.

If a Ferrari is supposed to symbolize affluence and living large, the depreciation and fear of maintenance is hard to figure. I don't recall car guys like Steve McQueen keeping their toys under car covers for the occasional peek.

For concern about many previous owners of a Cali T (2015-2018), there are several steps one may take for information. Carfax, or similar, may show a concerning reason for ping-pong ownership or be clean. If the car has been Ferrari dealer serviced, one may ask the dealer to review and report on the service records. Dealers also can do PPI and CPO informing and warranty provision. If the car was serviced by an independent shop, inquiries there are appropriate. If the current owner is available for discussion, a direct conversation may be helpful. And driving the car and going over myriad details yourself on the car of interest is another way to judge condition.

There are a few issues that may arise for low usage of a Cali T. Low miles may suggest some seals, including hydraulic top, and carbon buildup issues. On the other hand, low miles often has huge benefits on other elements of the car, including leather and paint wear. These cars now are 6 to 9 years old, expect condition for that age and pricing accordingly. I've got about 24,000 miles on my 2016 and annual service and tire/battery/wiper blades/hood struts are the only repairs other than getting the sticky buttons redone (I wish this service was available for some of my other retail products around that age with similar sticky issues).
