Regret seen plenty of times on my 599, over many years and so far unfixable by three different authorised Ferrari service Centers
I have a new to me 599 and this is happening to me too. Battery is 2 years old… who knows if it was kept on a maintainer? Looks like i need to check the battery out. The issue happened 3 times now… it did put me in wet mode but no issue with driving .. not in limp mode or anything. I want to make sure nothing serious is wrong.
I have a "manettino failure" but the code is unknown. I replaced the battery, and the code returns immediately. I suspect it is a wheel speed sensor or another sensor in the transmission. I am not in limp mode, it shows slippery mode BUT the engagement is much too erratic for that to be true. Recently, things have been too complicated personally to dig into this (don't ask). Things are smoothing out now, so I am thinking I will get it sorted in the next couple of months. I am looking forward to driving the Ferrari again.
This is happening to me. No limp mode just puts me in wet mode. Doesn’t happen every time. Just every once in a while. Kind of annoying .. put a new battery last month.
My mechanic diagnosed the problem and reported back to me it began with a parking sensor failure- it was hit by a pebble on the highway. Go figure!
That’s Crazy.. I get it every once in a while but I cycle the car and it doesn’t come back for a while… very odd
Reviving this thread. On my 2007 599, I diagnosed the problem to the switch that is at the top of the brake pedal (green dot on the picture). At the age of our cars when the weather changes (like it gets very cold) the plastic piston that is actuated as a consequence of the brake pedal gets "stuck" in the "no pedal input" position, and that is what triggered the code for my car. Short term solution was to spray WD-40, that did the trick. A more permanent solution would be to remove, clean, properly lubricate, and reinstall the piston at the end of the switch. My Issues seem to be the battery. I replaced the battery and it was still doing it so I thought it was an inclination sensor draining. I changed my battery maintainer to Cteck since I Bought an odyssey battery.. Seems to be all good now I haven’t been getting any stupid messages
I had the Manettino failure when my potentiometer in the F1 system went bad. Seems like just about any electrical issue can trigger this
I have suffered this Manettino failure in one of my 599s recently. Believe it or not, it was due to a MAF sensor not working properly.. They replaced both and the failure is gone.
Thank you everyone for providing data points for this. I trust it will help others well beyond me. I haven't had the time to dig into this yet; yes, I make slow progress given too many projects. I am confident that my MAFs are F'd, there was visible oil burn because a shop overfilled the system. I decided to start by replace the MAFs, fix the bumper (scrapes & an embarrassing story involving backing onto my lift), and replace the battery. I had replaced the battery, but it died in the first 2 years even though it was on a maintainer. THEN, I will see what codes remain. Hopefully that fixes stuff, but I am not confident that will happen. At least it will reduce the competing errors and make the issue easier to track. I caught up on most of my bigger projects so I will dig into it after the holidays.
