Saw one of these(in the same colour) drive yesterday on a local street here in Rome, At first, with its angular front I thought it was an unknown to me new Lamborghini SUV. Imagine my shock when I saw a Lotus badge; this thing is ENORMOUS! ACBC would not be amused... Image Unavailable, Please Login

DESIGNERS Todd Willing is Ford’s new design head By James McLachlan27 August 2024 Ford veteran Todd Willing is Ford’s new head of design, filling the role vacated by Anthony Lo in May 2024 Ford has appointed Todd Willing as its new head of design, overseeing both Ford and Lincoln brands globally. Effective August 27, 2024, Willing steps into the role, which has been empty since Anthony Lo’s departure in May 2024. Willing is very much a Ford man. He began his career when he was fifteen through a work experience programme at Ford’s Australian design studio. The designer has been on staff at the US automotive giant since 2003, working on numerous programmes including the 2007 Mondeo, 2010 Focus, and 2017 Ford GT. More recentley, as global design director for Ford Trucks and SUVs, he also guided the design teams behind the F-150, Ranger, Bronco and Maverick. Willing spoke to CDN at the launch of the Ford F-150 Lightning, the OEM’s electric version of the legendary truck. In a statement, Ford said: “Willing is a leader who grasps Ford’s unique history, recognises the forces of change, and can guide a team to create something new yet unequivocally Ford. Willing began with the company in 2003 and previously held the position of global design director for Ford Model e.”
Unknown corvette special on BaT. I’ve worked with Todd for years. Ford couldn’t have chosen a better design leader. He’s hands on, non-political and low ego. He’s also a car guy at the highest level. He’s been building an early 911 to ST spec and races vintage open wheelers. He’s a great guy with great vision. Good on Ford!
Some of you might get a kick out of my strange journey to become a car designer. A British website asked me to put my story together in 1000 word increments. The first 3 have been posted: https://driventowrite.com/2024/07/30/john-manoogian-career-recollections-part-one/ https://driventowrite.com/2024/08/14/never-a-dull-moment-part-2/ https://driventowrite.com/2024/08/28/john-manoogian-ii-never-a-dull-moment-part-three/ GM project 1973-4 Charles (Chuck) Jordan critiquing a classmates model and him telling me what he thought of my design. He was pleased with my project. He pulled me aside and said he'd like me to work at GM. The rest is history as they say.
Sadly, no. It wasn't for a lack off trying, but those were difficult times. Broke my heart to this day.
