Maybe someone here can help me figure this out. I ordered a water pump belt from Ricambi and it was the wrong size. Ordered one from Superformance and received the same wrong size.

My car is a 1985 308 GTS Euro.

Please see attached picture for reference.

Has anyone else ever had this issue?

    Thanks all

Maybe because its not a Ferrari water pump pulley?

The pulley is wrong. What size is the belt?

I didn't know that wasn't a Ferrari water pump pulley.

The old belt is about 12" inches long.

That pulley will spin your pump slower as well.

For the people who can actually open it.

We really dont care too much about the old belt. Point is you have a brand X water pump on it. Proper belts dont fit. You need to either change the pump or get a belt like the last one.

I appreciate the information and pictures guys.

It doesn't look like there are threads on the water pump to install the proper pulley. Very strange.

If you look at your pulley it looks almost as big as the crank pulley. My pulley is much smaller.

Id put a correct pump on it.

You cant. Wrong kind of shaft. Correct pulley will not fit. Needs a correct pump.

You are correct, the water pump pulley is almost the same size as the crack pulley. I wonder where the previous owner found this water pump....

Would you by chance know where I could find the proper sized 12" belt? Would rather not replace the water pump.

    Thank you

Car parts store would be my first guess. As already pointed out, wrong belt ratio will compromise cooling.

    Good luck.

Take the old belt to an auto parts store and see if they can match it.

Went to four different auto parts stores, none of them had anything close to that belt.

One of the gentlemen did measure the old belt. It is 25" inches in circumference.

I have no idea where I would be able to locate the correct size belt. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would sure appreciate it.

That water pump pulley is larger than stock. Which means it's turning slower. Which means it's not flowing as much water as it should. I think the amount you save by finding a 25" belt will be nothing compared to a replacement engine. RifleDriver is giving you unusually gentle advice. :) You should bite the bullet and replace the pump. That would scare me to keep that as-is.

since you have decided to use the old w/p and oversized pulley, you can try this place for the belt (but you'd be best to follow the advice of rifledriver here and source a correct WP and pulley)

If it's a Forza pump, there's a good chance Forza sells the longer belt to go with it.

If it is for that belt system
    A. It is a different belt width and no belt will fit
    B. The drive pulley is much larger so the pump will run at the correct speed.

    THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.

I have no experience with any of his products, but Forza seems to have a good reputation. Although I agreed with earlier posts suggesting replacement with the OEM style pump, if it IS a Forza water pump I would leave it alone and purchase the belt per the link in post #23. Maybe purchase a couple of them since they don't seem easily available elsewhere.

This picture shows belt for water pump and alternator at the same time. Think that crankshaft pulley has only 2 belt grooves. Has your pulley have 2 or 3 grooves ?
A belt for water pump/alternator should work also = nr 39.
