So, finally here we go. I used the task to rework the 355-Series completely and the results are as follows, including Ken's special request of breaking down the numbers for the US by MY Image Unavailable, Please Login
@Matthias Urban Fantastic!!! So only 336 U.S 95 cars? Some of these are going to be challenge cars. Interestingly, you broke is down by VIN (10th digit “S” to indicate 95 MY). I say this because there are a bit 1996 challenge cars with “S” in their VIN. I guess we just need to figure out a rough ball park for challenge cars to figure out how many 95 street Berlinettas (U.S spec). How many 95’s worldwide though?
So 272 5.2 manual U.S spec Berlinettas or North American I should say. 336 2.7 manual N/A Berlinettas - (however many challenge cars). Should be close to even.
How many 94-95 manual Berlinettas Worldwide? 96-97 manual Berlinettas Worldwide? 98-99 manual Berlinettas Worlwide?
Basically, we would like to know how many 2.7 355’s are North American-spec, how many there are worldwide… minus all the challenge cars, so we can get a rough idea how many street 2.7’s there are.
probably around 1100 units, problem in this case is that only US and Middle East models include the MY in their VIN and furthermore, that the MY always changes months before the year ends
Minus challenge cars, CDN cars, written off cars, there’s probably only 250-300 U.S spec Berlinettas in the country. I believe that is less than Challenge Stradale U.S cars .

106 manual 98-99 Berlinettas out of 281 = 38%. Manual take rate (in U.S) towards the end of 355 production is much higher than I figured.
@johnk... 1297 U.S manual Spiders vs. 928 RoW manual LHD Spiders. *58% U.S manual LHD take rate. Image Unavailable, Please Login
@johnk... 607 manual LHD North American Berlinettas vs 2,721 manual RoW LHD Berlinettas. *22% take rate and that’s not subtracting challenge cars. U.S spec Berlinetta should be a $300k car by comparison . Image Unavailable, Please Login
235 Manual U.S (North American) GTS’ vs 1,388 RoW manual LHD GTS’. * 17% take rate North Ametican take rate. If one filters out the U.S F355 Challenge take, we would arrive at a similar take rate for a standard manual Berlinetta for the North American market. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not sure what your point is. I though this was about 95 MY (2.7) US cars. Only 17 Spiders according to the list. Same as the GTS. Heck, there were more Challenge cars. What was that number for 95 Bs? 336? Not that any of this matters to me.
We’ve been blessed with new information John … that’s my point . I’ll get back to 95 Berlinettas shortly .
@Matthias Urban think you can help fill in the blanks on my North American VIN list regarding color/spec? I’m only interested in tallying up N/A 95 B’s when it is all said and done. Just very curious on final production #s for colors etc. *I pulled color/spec info from the 355 registry.
@Matthias Urban when you say “factory confirmed” challenge cars, does this include recognized converted challenge cars? I ask because there’s gotta be 300-350 challenge cars worldwide. Ordered plus converted total, which many competed.
For those curious where the cutoff VIN for “early engine” might be…. Should be somewhere between 100608 & 100652.
