You are absolutely correct that the market is cooling off in general. Interest in the cars coveted by the baby boomer generation has stagnated, and the boom in the pricing of modern classics is just beginning. As this newer generation of collectors has gotten an education on the pitfalls of buying needy cars, quality is rightly rewarded with a premium price. Rare and desirable variants and colors in top condition with unimpeachable history are still breaking records.

Not sure this is a perfect example, with its US modifications and plugs covering the holes where the bumper was removed. Nice, but not perfect. Not to throw stones (it is a really nice car) I am just impressed with the price.

    John, I agree.

There are a handful of minor issues with the car, the biggest being the side marker lights and the rear bumper plugs.
Those issues should have been addressed prior to the full repaint of the car in my opinion.
Still the same the car is nice and exceeded my expectations on what it sold for.

    Sincerely Vic

As you correctly stated, this car (LP500S #12540) is Nice but not perfect. It would be an ideal candidate for a preservation-type restoration.

I did not get to see the final bid. Curious what the final bid was though, site shows not sold.
