Although not an owner i did get to experience both (sf90 sf90 spyder both AF) and 296 gtb AF. I tbh preferred the sound of the v8 more than the v6. I also prefer the styling of the sf90. Although i didn’t explore it in too much depth as on public roads but i thought the 296 revved longer than the sf90. Sf90 feels like it hit the speed limiter faster while the 296 felt like it revved longer (can someone confirm that or am i off). Also thought that 296 felt more agile than the sf90. This was on back 2 back drives of the 2 cars.

I enjoy driving my SF90 Spider AF. There is something special when you drive this car compared to my Pista. Multimatic titanium springs and suspension is just gorgeous on the road. It also has a sense of occasion when4 different power units do their own thing to propel this Ferrari into a neutral steer cornering.

Under appreciated by many journalists, but they don't own the car long enough to find out what this is about.

    Agreed.

I recently drove one and walked away oscillating. The car is other worldly.

Journalists opinions are so overrated. They all still hanker after manual transmissions…

I do hope for V2 of the SF90 they find a way to shape the battery so they get some storage space behind the seats. And potentially in-wheel motors get the front boot back too. Then it would be perfect [emoji1303]

Front boot not limited because of e-motors there are located way behind.

Whatever! You’re missing my point - SF90 compromised by lack of front and after seat storage. Battery takes up space behind the seat and whatever mechanicals have severely limited front space.

The YASA axial flux motor used in the SF90 (“pizza box” motor between the engine and gearbox) is small enough it can run in-wheel. The issue is increased unsprung mass but there are definite packaging advantages.

In-wheel motors will never work for a car like Ferrari, they are subject to all vibrations and deflections from un-even surfaces, they simply are not designed (and cannot be without serious downsides such as lack of power) to take such abuse thus will have high failure rates...cooling issues and more

Do you think its a mistake to part exchange a 296GTB for a sf90 spider ? I love driving the 296 but I miss having a spider and upgrading for a 296 GTB would not be a real upgrade to me...

Hopefully the SF90 replacement will step up the hybrid game, in particular I would hope for faster charging, double battery capacity and about 300 pounds less weight in the car!!!! It will then be nearly perfect although I truly love my 296GTB which is more fun to drive and sounds better than the SF90 by quite a margin in my experience. Lastly and I know this is just a dream please add back some buttons and switches. The haptics truly distracts from the driving experience

Not getting lighter. Lighter hybrids are a pipe dream. Manufacturers just get better at masking the weight.

Battery increase density energy won't be better than it is today.
Charging weight power re - gen etc all improving.
I wouldn't bet against companies like Ferrari -

Not sure exactly how to take this. Ferrari isn’t inventing anything regarding this type of power train. They refuse to use carbon tubs. They haven’t been known for lightness since McLaren came to play. Compared to Lambo tho, they’re featherweights.

Ferrari has valid reasons for not doing all CF tubs. The batteries suck. No one likes them. Not drivers. Not Ferrari.
