Alonso finishes the race P10 and in the points.

Stroller P13 (with a 5sec penalty for speeding in the pitlane(he's done this so many times and gets a fine...not this time today at Zandvoort)).

 

As Lawrence Stroll said to Martin Brundle, they are where they deserve to be on the grid. I assume some of that comes from continuing to hire his wanker kid.

 

No, that comes from having a very mediocre car.

 

Lack of attention to detail today with penalty. Finished out of the points and behind his team - mate. He continues his mid-pack career in F1. Not sensing a WDC soon.

 

That MIGHT be the case for 2024....however he has a team-mate ALMOST double the Strollers age.

That wasn't the case in 2023....again proven by his team-mate.

I mean, does the car have to be soooooo dominant(like the Mercedes W05) for Stroller to have a shot at the WDC title?

He'll never win a WDC. He is not WDC material. I just hope the AM becomes good enough for him to get a few more podiums.

Your last sentence sounds like a paradox. IF the AM is good enough? That depends on Lance Strolls driving abilities or how much he is able to extract out of the car....IF he's able to.

 

3/4 of the drivers on the grid are not WDC material, IMO.

Clearly not, but at least, a few finish races. It is called "Filler F.1" This not racing anymore.
Put all the drivers on all equal 500's and you might have a better show, 3 pedal cars clearly...

If it were not for the huge $ incentives, there would be 8 F1 cars on any given grid.

This is not sport. To be satisfied to finish in 10th place, really ? Is it because of some money? Ask any Olympian, if 10th is Grrrreat!

Do you think Zhou, Bottas, Magnussen, Tsunoda, Sargeant, Ocon, Albon, Stroll, Ricciardo, Hulkenberg, Perez, Alonso, Hamilton, Sainz or Leclerc are World champion material of the future? I don't. Well, that's 3/4 of the present grid !!!
Alonso and Hamilton, were WDC, but are unlikely to repeat the feat.

 

They are a good gauge to compare their team-mates with no?

 

What has that to do with their chances to win another title ? They are cashing on their experience, no more.

Because it is a business.

That's the whole point of the TV money scheme that Bernie figured out: You have to make it interesting enough that the als0-runs have a reason to be in it. You can't sell a F1 grid of 6 cars. They tried that once in Indy and it wasn't such a hit with the fans...

I always knew it !! It's the same as in any sport.
It's a fallacy to believe that every team has ambition to win the WCC, or that every drivers thinks he can be world champion.
Many don't have that ambition, and are more realistic, mostly after a couple of seasons.
Running a F1 team can be quite profitable if you manage it sensibly as a business. I don't know a poor team owner or ex-owner.
And driving a F1 can be quite a well paid job even for a journeyman, even if you have no hope of ever reaching the summit.

 

During the post race show, Piastri was asked about catching up with others after his pit stop, Piastri stated that he had a few issues one being "Stroll who was driving like he was in his first go kart race...." Classic.....

 

Alonso was .193sec of getting into the points. He was behind K-Mag. Alonso started P11 and ended P11.

Lance started P17 and ended the race P19.

Colapinto, a rookie, did better in the race in a Williams than Lance did(9 years in F1). One progressed while the other had fun.

 

Stroll hasen't been interviewed in a while. I wonder why...The kid is a prick.

 

What would you ask... ?

 

An apt summary of Stroll for years!! Aston is not a team pursuing a title if Lance remains.
