Also interested to know if he was referring to the design or something else.

Can’t say more other than WOW as to whom.

Haven’t met a SA/mechanic or any car enthusiast (without any secondary gain) who hasn’t said the same or laughed when I asked if they saw the turd Ferrari just dropped.

    It’s turd.

Besides who cares. It’s just a car.

On the bright side- it can only go up……..maybe not……

It's worse in person...Seen it up close and especially seeing it next to their previous models it's no contest. But I'm biased as I think one of the worst designs they made was the 365 Daytona and this draws heavily from it. But a lot of long-time Ferrari heavy weights I know are not pleased with this design either. We're probably going to see a lot of dark color specs to hide the details and highlight the silhouette.

Yeah that was the second thing I heard- big wig, PS/SP3 type, also an Aston collector called it a POS in Monterey. (No the CEO is not Stroll)

The irony of this thread is who cares what the casual observer/you tuber thinks of it.

It is those with the vested interest whose disappointment is what really counts. From those who have had to buy the used car to get the new car, the ugly car to get the limited one, the guys who have spent MM to MMM, the guys who have TMd paint for their wives' eyes, etc.....

And they drop this turd on them.

And don't even get me started on what they could have or should have done (let alone the C engine). A disappointment.

No. Those are they guys for whom, not at whom, I direct my cynicism and sarcasm........towards Ferrari.

He’s just Manzoni’s scape goat just in case it’s a flop. If it was universally loved, Manzoni would have probably taken full credit

Andrea Militello has recognized skills as a designer and, like Flavio Manzoni, he started working at Ferrari in 2010. He began by being involved in the design of the F12 Berlinetta in collaboration with Pininfarina and so it is natural that he later moved on to the design of the 812SF.
In the case of the 12C, the problem seems to me to have more to do with Ferrari's leadership than with the designers themselves. In the days of Luca di Montezemolo, he was the one who hired Manzoni with the aim of autonomousizing Ferrari's design. For Manzoni, it was very clear in terms of approval of the designs that the final word belonged to his boss and he knew well that he was someone who was very demanding in terms of aesthetics. From the moment Montezemolo left Ferrari and other leaders appeared with much more commercial objectives, it seems that Manzoni gained total autonomy and became what he is today, the Cesar who decides what is the future of Ferrari in terms of the design of its cars.

What a slob. His "taste" in personal attire mimics his "taste" in car design.

The true arbiter of whether the 12C is a success or flop will be the used car market. My hunch is that this one will fall faster than a Taycan with a dodgy battery.

The 12 Cilindri will drop like every other standard Ferrari but I don’t think it will tank. They launched the spider and coupe together so the whole „buy the coupe to get the spider“ game isn’t going to produce a ton of flipped coupes like it has with the 296 and SF90 etc.

Should be fit/trim, wearing tailored Zegna suit and Ferragamo shoes. Rare to see anyone in "design" this unkempt.

Ferrari should be embarrassed - in both his appearance and the 12C's.

    Is the Cilindri too large?
Would a slimmer, shorter, flatter body improve both aesthetics and drivability?

Are you asking about the 12C or Manzoni’s physique?

And guys as much as everyone hates how it looks , it still looks better than all the other turds unveiled by other car brands, I’d say Ferraris designs are still on top

Ferrari has nothing to be embarrassed about. They will sell the 12 Cilindri with no issues, because they are Ferrari. If you don't like it, someone else does, and that allocation will be filled.

    Ha !

But you may be in to something...
Their junior lead designer is a very tall large sized person

All of his references for size will reflect that

Flavio Manzoni declared in a recent interview to R&T “It’s even better when you take a picture of the 12 C with the iPhone, than making official pictures, because the car must be seen in the proper habitat, in the proper situation, and especially in motion,”. “This car in motion is a spectacle, and spectacular. It’s something really, really different. And I love so much for this possibility to push the boundaries toward the future.”
These two pictures of the 12 C in motion where taking with an iPhone a few days ago near Maranello.:)

Having seen it in person, I would not say it’s too large for the design it’s carrying. In fact, for the design, I think if it were just a little longer, and a touch lower, it would help out the design even more. To my eyes, it’s just a little bit bulky, which is why I am also not a huge fan of the original 365 GTB/4 (aka the “Daytona”). That car also looks too tall and bulky, especially the rear, at least to my eyes. The original spider resolves the bulky rear treatment, but then loses the most distinctive element of the original. To my eyes the Dodici Cilindri spider helps resolve the bulkiness of the coupe rear end with the tighter styled buttresses, so thats the one I prefer. Also without the full delta graphic element on the rear, the design is a ittle bit more in a traditionalist direction.

Having seen the cars in pictures and in person, I was surprised at how well pictures convey the general sense of the car. I like the design, but I wish I liked it even more. I just don’t love the 365 design that much, I appreciate it for what it means in Ferrari history, but it’s not my favorite. I think I have similar feelings now.

Drivability should be improved with the independent RWS from the Comp, probably tailored to the new car’s shorter wheelbase- I think it’s 20mm shorter? (A little less than an inch). They probably also addressed other systems. I remember reading about a new system that changes the torque curve from the engine depending on your gear, a first for a NA Ferrari. This concept has helped their turbo cars, so I would imagine it will pay dividends here. I would bet the Dodici Cilindri drives even better than the 812. The question is how much better, and if it’s for you. Only test drives and time can answer those questions.

I was out at the factory ahead of the F1 race and was surprised at how compact it looked in person. I really liked it and feel even more desire to own one. They have a ton of them on the line and rolling off. On an Interesting note, they are producing them with the 296, sf90x and Roma S which is a faster line versus the The PS which upstairs and slower. Last time I visited the factory was a few years back but the 8 and 12 lines were separate. Other interesting bit, hearing the cars rip around and the to my ears the 296 and sf90x sounded fantastic and loudest of all.
