On another note, I am surprised to see the silver car on BAT already up to $150K, given what that beyond stunning (and Exoticar converted) Verde / Cuoio sold for just last week. Thought that would have reached 180K, and likely would have last year.

    Best,

Not as big a market for green Ferraris, regardless of how much we like them.

Not that it didn't deserve the bid it got or even higher but I was frankly surprised to see bids on the recent japanese (white) import 550 went to $228 on BaT.
I love it in white but......

Kevin's green converted 575 looked great in person.

Factory manual, lower miles, and OEM FHP bits. I know which I’d rather have, though (nothing against the silver car)

My SuperAmerica is at Exoticar for a 3rd pedal conversion. Can’t wait!! As long as I can drive I plan on keeping it for a long time. Don’t care about resale value. It’s been my car for 16 years. Hope to keep it another 16 years!! I love the SuperAmerica!!

Judging by today’s BAT result, this seems to be a crappy time to sell a Ferrari.

Meanwhile, the Porsche insanity continues unabated…

My 575M is with Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale getting an all OEM parts conversion. I will post pics of her afterwards. It's a keeper in my mind, so not too worried about the resell value, it's low mileage at 12,000 but I'll add a few for sure over the years. I have been surprised by the recent low values on them though and thought the Green one' reserve would be higher than that.

Where are they finding all the OEM parts at this late date? Thought many were NLA.

I think from wrecked 550s and 456GTs…several parts are shared so maybe that’s where?

The majority of the parts came out of a few 550’s that are being used for racing and took the seller about 8 years to collect. The remaining items are still available OEM.

Enjoy it! 8 years ago some on FerrariChat were denigrating my conversion. Now it's in vogue, and done by dealerships.[emoji16]

I've seen some photos of "OEM" gates of conversions and some look a little "off" compared to my factory installed gate...does the provenance of the components have significant effect on value?

In the future, likely will as they are examined under a magnifying glass. As an example, do you really want cable shifting in your big V12 with a long distance from the shifter to the transaxle?

I agree they will, but it’s not going to be straightforward, as Ferrari used different suppliers. I was holding in my hands two OEM gear gates just the other week, both removed from 550’s, and the logo was visibly different between them. On one, you could easily make out the tool path used to engrave the logo, and on the other it wasn’t visible without a loupe.

I was under the impression that most 575 kits use rods not cables? What kits are using cables? I originally was under the impression that they were cables, but was recently educated that eag and others are actually using rods.

and yes, I would rather have a manual (with cables or rods) than an automatic. But this is like a P&R discussion as those that love the f1 cannot understand why we whom don’t don’t,

and for those that are not driving, but investing, it may not make a huge difference what the mechanism is or fits its 100% OE, partially OE or non-OE in the long term. I actually think 100% oe conversions will take a premium, but there are so few cars being converted and the market (ie: buyers) still place a significant premium on the manual cars (550 v 575 and converted 575s v f1 575s) even in this soft market. I believe that delta will grow. It does seem clear that the cost to convert is almost always paid back (if not plus some) when a converted car is sold. And I have yet to hear from anyone who converted a car that regretted doing it. They all seem to rave about the driving experience after conversion. This includes some who owned the car as an f1 for a long time.

I’ve enjoyed @Chupacabra comments before and after and also am very much looking forward to hearing more from @Joel Delman as his car is finalized.

Brad- 575s are not the only Ferraris being converted and many of the converted 599s used cables instead of OEM-type rods.

Oh, yes. That is a good point. As this thread is not about 599's I was not including those or thinking that you would be. I believe that you are correct in that assertion though.

So are there any 575's being converted with cables?

If ALL are using rods, than I think the delta between OE and partial OE conversions will be almost NIL to most buyers except on potentially very low mile collector grade cars.

And even if all OE parts are used, they are still using a non OE flash to make it all work.

So all in, there really are no all OE conversions that I am aware of strictly speaking.

I thought from memory like the personal/home conversion by @Soren with OEM parts was one of the first and @otoupalik I'd have to re-read his thread but I don't recall there being any ECU flashing....link below.

I just edited this post and I think @kvm 's car that he just recently sold and was converted by deGroot in 2016 was actually one of the first?

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/yes-i-converted-my-f1-575-to-a-gated-three-pedal-manual.544974/

I don't remember exactly when (in history) @360trev was cracking the ECU code but it seems like that was a positive and amazing step forward for the 575's....then came the tune with Fabio's headers and "kapow to the moon"!

Ok, so that is more interesting. You don't need a flash like with the 430/599? You just install hard parts and the car works? If that is the case, I totally misunderstood the process and that makes it even simpler.

    Can someone confirm this?

I am on the cusp of buying a 575 F1 just for conversion, so all of this learning is super helpful!
