The question is: if not Ford, who else? It´s not that there was much people willing to buy Aston Martin, and to be honest, when Ford sold, it was finally making some money after years of losses. Prodrive couldn´t make anything with it, and let´s see what Stroll does. But even then, Stroll is building upon what Ford made, the company is in a much better situation now than in the pre-Ford days.

perhaps they should revert back to having the car back with a super responsive front end, at least they'll get a half decent result. Now the car is dull and safe to drive, but also slow lol.

At least the window licker looks good!

I will never believe that Stroll can beat Alonso on equal footing. We know Stroll's enforce teammates to slow down and let Lance go, we know Lance gets special treatment, we know Lawrence will cheat to give Lance an edge, and we know money talks. Everyone can have their day, but unless Alonso makes a significant mistake I don't see Stroll ever being 3+ tenths faster on a short track like Austria. In Sprint quali, Stroll was .35 up on Alonso before messing up his last corner.

Looking into Sprint quali, Lance had a lot more straight line speed. 325 kph vs 321. I thought maybe a draft but Lance had an advantage on all the big straights even though Alonso had a better exit out of every corner. They appear to have the same wing package, besides who is more likely to manage tires and extract speed with a lower downforce package, Lance or Alonso? It certainly suggest Lance was given more power than Alonso. Or, Alonso's setup was just so far off the mark that he couldn't drive it. The most adaptable driver in perhaps history.

Alonso still has 70% of the teams points in 2024 even though the car is crap compared to last year.

It likely would be more and the car would be at least still be in the top 10 if they focused their development around Alonso like Red Bull has with Max.

If true, it will be interesting to see what the real outcome will be. I'm not sure it will turn AM into a real titles contender.

That would be a first then. Everywhere he’s been they’ve been contenders or dominant winners. Stroll has the dough so why not.

Adrian Newey's manager Eddie Jordan has refused to discuss reports that the Formula 1 design legend is to join the Aston Martin team next year.

Jordan, who in April negotiated an early exit for Newey from his contract as Red Bull chief technical officer, told BBC Sport: "I am not prepared to answer - I will not be forthcoming in any shape or form."

Aston Martin have scheduled a news conference for 10 September, where Newey's recruitment is expected to be announced.

Aston Martin F1 set for $2 billion valuation following stake sale!
The Aston Martin F1 team is reportedly nearing a stake sale to two US financial institutions that would value Team Silverstone at an estimated $2 billion, a new benchmark valuation for an F1 team.

According to a report from Sky News, Silicon Valley venture capital firm Accel and private credit manager HPS Investments Partners headquartered in New York are set to invest “hundreds of millions of pounds” into the F1 team’s holding company, AMR GP Holdings Limited.

According to Sky’s sources, the two firms’ investments would reach an aggregate amount between £1.5 and £2 billion, with a deal “expected to be announced shortly”.

A source familiar with Aston Martin F1’s shareholder structure indicated that the latest sale would involve new investors acquiring a stake of approximately 20% to 25% in AMR GP Holdings Limited.

Sky’s report also mentioned that Aston Martin was being advised on the transaction by The Raine Group, the merchant bank known for handling the sale of Chelsea Football Club and facilitating Mercedes F1 shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s purchase of a stake in Manchester United Football Club.
As part of its investment, HPS has reportedly agreed to refinance the debt associated with Aston Martin F1's technology campus at Silverstone, which opened in 2023.

Last year, Aston Martin Lagonda executive chairman Lawrence Stroll, who is attempting to steer the legendary automotive manufacturer towards profitability, sold a minority stake in the F1 team to Arctos Partners, a sports-focused private equity investor.

I do not really understand the quote "the two firms’ investments would reach an aggregate amount between £1.5 and £2 billion", which is approximately $2 billion - so if the two firms pay that, and the valuation is $2 billion, they would have acquired 100%... whereas the article says they actually are acquiring 20 to 25%.
More logically, they should spend about $500 millions (consistent with "hundreds of millions of pounds") for 25% so that 100% would be valued at around $2 billions.
Anyway, one should be cautious extrapolating a total value from what some minority investors are ready to pay for their stake (like on the stock exchange, selling larger amounts of shares typically results in lowering the share value).
