Agreed, very well said by @Thecadster PS- I think the SF90 is a car that too many people dismiss because they don’t want any of that new stuff. I have to tell you all, it drives amazingly well. But I think the market place is still trying to figure out how it feels about all of this. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I bet the Internet would have crashed back in the day when automakers introduced automatic windows (from manual roll down/up windows). I could see it now, "What am I going to to do keep my biceps and triceps in shape with these stupid switches. Give me handles and swivels, or give me death!"
Automatic window keeps our eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel. Today's haptic/touchscreen control in Ferrari, Lambo, Tesla, and you fill in the blank take your eyes off the road and hands off the steering wheel. Do we have human factor expert here to chime in? @Cocoloco, please put down your hand. You had your turn.
I can change settings on my Tesla with just a glance at the screen. Scrolling through menus with the haptic arrows on my PS steering wheel is maddening.
on the other end of the tech spectrum, I just had my Spyder RS delivered and it uses the same system Porsche was using from 8 years ago. I certainly welcome the knobs but at least provide a better screen, AA and CarPlay. You just cant win. . IMO, the Urus uses the best system - just the right amount of buttons and touchscreen and so easy to use.
I just took delivery of a 2025 Taycan Turbo GT and the backup camera is worse than my flip phone in 1999. Shocking really.
A lot of what Porsche does makes me scratch my head. I agree their cameras are horrible. My cayenne TGT wasn't as bad as the Taycan (which is supposed to be the high tech car).
Side stepped the Mclaren size screen vs Roma large screen and SF90 screen - don't blame you I am cool but it's not so simple and if people who used the haptic buttons they would understand there is no option - due to the volumes of settings. The haptics allow you to go thru the menus and screens - not sure how else one would do it and accomplish all the setting preferences. Tons of settings and menus - one that unlocks the drivers door but not the passenger. A walk away setting auto locking the car and volumes of others. I think it comes down to haptic or large screen when you have so many settings - where Ferrari could use a knob to control a few settings - they did. Not sure why you and others have to bring other drama - I am 100% willing to share what I think and listen to what you think. I am not apologizing or defending - just sharing my experience don't get that twisted as there is a huge difference. I think the whole idea is to understand why these companies go about things vs not.
Taycan is terrible, I had a Turbo S and it only lasted 3 weeks with me. I'm not sure how the camera could be worse and the controls we awful. With that said, it drive and looked great.
In Purosangue, how many turns and presses did you have to go through to adjust your seat on the central round knob? I counted. 7 times for me.
I debated so hard, really so hard on Spyder RS. I think it's definitely a keeper. Yes, interior is dated, technically almost the same as my then GT4 and Spyder. What color is yours? Post some car porn will ya.
Man, I tell you. The steering wheel on Revuelto is even better. 4 knobs intuitively designed and placed at 4 corners. Driving mode, suspension mode, battery mode and the wing. So good.
There just aren't many new cars left that are so raw and fun. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I liked my GT4 a lot. Thought it was a great car. Very fun on the track. Actually preferred the steering over my 458. I can imagine the RS being tons of fun in many situations that I thought the GT4 lacked in (mostly non track use) where the 458 is always fun. Just got done tracking a Pista though and that was a more enjoyable experience but of course different price points.
I recently picked up this slow, underpowered, switch/knobs/gauges car with old tech and small screens. I kind of likey. Image Unavailable, Please Login
