I cannot believe that 500 mile 550 on BAT. 200k already. I bet it needs 20k min to make it drivable. It should stay as a static museum piece sadly.

Will surely set the record for 550s I bet.

Ahhhhhh, yes I am familiar with this film…but I’m very glad to be reminded of it. Car looks absolutely gorgeous!!

Gents (and of course ladies if any are present - the first owner of my 575 was a female artist!), we are some lucky SOBs. I happen to think we posses the very finest all-around and most gorgeous automotive offering since 1967.

993 is a close second (runs and hides) :)

What in 1967 catches you out?

for me it’s the original lusso that is the pinnacle of beauty

The 275GTB4. After that, nothing hits me as truly “beautiful”. Cool, sure. Beautiful didn’t return until the late 90’s, IMO.

Before that, the 250SWB. So hot. :)

Im sorry, but how in the hell do you buy a 550 and put essentially NO miles on it?!

That is how I feel about the 1962 250GT Lusso. No car has ever captured my heart as this one has. My only real regret in life is not buying one when offered at $150K

That car literally moves me in a way I cannot explain. Almost to tears when seen in person. Its an emotional experience. The first one I saw was when I was in University studying in Italy. It was at the Mille Miglia as it came through Siena. It was a support car. It just moved me. Simple as that.

The owner of this car also had an Elena, which is quite gorgeous. Nice family, very down to earth and if I’m not mistaken they got in well before things got out of hand price wise. The fact that they love it so much and haven’t cashed out speaks volumes, I think. Kind of like how Nick Mason refused a huge sum for his 250 - OK, I’m sure he’s well off, but not so well off as to consider over $60mm (IIRC) chump change. Very cool.

Anyway, I got in the Lusso and it was pretty much a religious experience. Two of my very favorite cars together in one place for a whole day. Magic.

Any thoughts on the PCAR yellow 575? I think all things considered the BIN price is reasonable.

@Chupacabra i thought @henryr had watched the yellow 575 on eBay and it was available BIN for $119?
The $140+ number is robust but again….good color, miles, seats…..I had made a comment earlier that it seems odd that they optioned the seat but not interior carbon so I wonder if the seats were added and not original equipment?

But it’s a 2002? The deal @Mellow_Maranello got back at the start of Covid still rings as one of the “then” higher numbers at the time while still being a no-brainer.

If I can get some time this weekend I’ll try and catch up on a few of these recent results and do the “auction notes breakdown” for posterity.

Well, 2002 is a detractor I suppose, but I don’t recall what assembly # it is. Otherwise, I guess discount a bit for suspension upgrades, which labor aside wouldn’t be too terrible assuming bushings, shocks, etc are in order.

Good question re: seats. Though that is TOTALLY something I would do haha!

I know someone who owned one (also a 550 owner). He said that the Lusso was not a great driving/ownership experience for him, thus he sold it. He didn't elaborate as to why. I find them stylish but don't care much for the dash layout. Personally, I prefer the 330GTC as my coveted 60s Ferrari...

I wouldn’t be shocked to learn that it handles like a boat compared to a 550, so I’m not surprised. I tend to enjoy things like that for what they are, but that’s an awful lot of money for something you aren’t IN LOVE with.

Four speed transmission, too. We are now used to more flexibility. I love the Superfasts, but am told they drive like trucks.

I have only driven a superfast on track (at willow springs, a fast flow track, not technical) and yes, they were not a handling car. But still very enjoyable. Much like the nearly decade older 375mm that you can see me in (in my profile pic), these cars had charm and an experience. The golden days of Ferrari were the 50s- and 60s imho. Which is why these cars are so highly prized!

all the new cars are too fast and too “automated” for even 5/10ths on the street. IMHO, they almost all lack character and that experience. Again,I’m think this will help to,drive all of the past manual cars (550 and 575 included) to very high values. When everything is fast, people will continue to look for an emotionally moving and visceral experience that can be enjoyed on the street.

Came across this earlier and thought, hmm…wonder if anyone knows this car. 46k miles apparently. No idea about Carfax, etc. or if it’s even legitimate. Given the options and the fact that it’s BAT Blue (let’s be honest, people lose their minds for blue on there), I’m inclined to say the price is pretty reasonable, even if the low mileage Ferrari club will consider it worthless :D

Since the seats don’t match, assume added later on (maybe same thing for the Modular’s).
    Still a neat opportunity.

I thought that is a little odd myself, but according to the listing it is all factory. Dunno, also says it has carbon fiber wrap on the hood and roof currently so…proceed with caution would be my best advice
