After 8 years of great support, my battery finally failed.
In any case, I expected it to be a simple swap, and picked up a SuperStart AGM spec’ed battery replacement from my local Auto Parts store. Sizing was 48 H6, similar to what I had previously.
Come time to install the battery, I could not fit the top hold down bracket (see pic), leading me to think that there might be some intricate sizing and dimensions for the 360.
Can anyone point me to names of readily available batteries that they have purchased (No anti-gravity batteries ) with no fit issue? Image Unavailable, Please Login

I thought I had the same problem on my 430 with the size 48, but if you loosen up both sides so that the nuts are barely on, can you slip it over and then tighten each side a couple of turns at a time. Also make sure you twist the the long bolts a little to make sure they are connected and not bound in a way that shortens them up and make sure you push the battery all the way to the front of the car and that the slack in cables don't bunch behind the battery and prevent it from moving forward. I lifted both cables over the bar when I was putting the battery in to make sure. After all that, it turned out I had more thread "slack" than I thought.

Also for safety reasons, you may want to wrap the metal bar above the battery with electrical tape or harness tape to prevent accidental touching when moving the battery around.

I've run Interstate batteries in my 360 (for seven years) and I have to say even with Interstate telling me that their offering is a direct fit, it's not. I have the same problem with fitment of the top bar.

I too would love to find a better fitting battery without spending just south of $1000.

Any specific 34R models you can recommend?

I used to like Interstate battery but they are no longer the quality I expected. So I just buy Napa battery. It's important to use a tender to help it last a long time.

    I do not recommend Optima.

From my experience with a CS, 34R did NOT fit and I ended up returning it and using a 48 instead: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/360-agm-battery-size-34r-fitment-question.523386/

As @CoreyNJ stated, it's a tight fit, and the ends of the bar will probably need to bend slightly as you tighten the nuts down. Wrapping the bar in electrical tape to ensure you don't short it against battery terminals is also advisable.

Hm, I put a couple of 34R into a few CS I ran across. I remember them to be Interstate at the time so maybe the battery manufacturers don't care much about the sizes, especially height.

For those of you worried about shorting the battery due to the stupid design of our cars, the stock terminal clamps are junk. I replaced mine with these since they have a plastic cover

They upgraded the clamps in the later 430s, the concern is more about moving the battery in and out of the tray with the taller battery and the exposed + terminal. I do cover the terminal when I do with a cap, but better safe than sorry.

When removing the battery disconnect the negative cable first. If you are worried about shorting both the negative and positive posts to the chassis I would say save one of the plastic caps they put on the battery when you buy it and put it on one of the terminals-- if that isn't what you are already doing.

When I have to do anything with the battery, I slide a paper towel inner cardboard roll over the battery holddown bar. When the battery is secure and won’t move I just cut the cardboard roll off.

That's what I do, but why not be extra safe and wrap the bar that comes close near the positive terminal with either electrical or harness tape. Takes about 1 minute.
