Does anyone happen to have a photo of Bob Said’s 0454MD at the Governor’s Trophy race in Nassau Bahamas Dec 9th 1955? Interestingly he wasn’t listed as a participant in the race program but Chinetti is shown to have registered a 1980cc Ferrari under number 20 which would synch up to a Said’s Mondial 500. There is also an account of Said participating in the race from a Road & Track article in 1955 and he’s listed as a DNF on a results report so it seems he must have driven under the Chinetti entry since no other listed entrants were unknown. Any info or photos in particular be appreciated… Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nassau 55 with number 20 I have Phil Hill with 857 S 0570 Best, Miki-Paki Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting. The program for Nassau race week has Phil Hill registered as number 33 as seen in the photo below. It appears he changed numbers as the week went on. Bob Said is listed as driving in the Governor's Trophy race (link) and (link) 12.09.1955 with no number listed (I’m assuming he was 20 that day) and Hill shows 33 on that same day just as in the program. There are write ups of the race in several periodicals discussing Said’s participation that day and showing did not attend for the next day - presumably because of issues sustained during the initial race day. But, the same (link) shows Hill was then number 20 on 12.10.1955 which matches up with the photo you posted. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Phil Hill raced 0498 M on December 9th entered by George Tilp with race number 33. On December 10th and 11th he raced 0570 M entered by Luigi Chinetti with race number 20. For the Nassau Trophy Race on December 11th there was originally entered a 500 Mondial by Luigi Chinetti on race number 20 which DNS.
Perhaps Said was under a different number then? Road & Track mentions only two incidents December 9th and one was Said with a fire of some sort. The race record shows he did 18 laps… Image Unavailable, Please Login

R#16 (0462 MD) was painted dark green with a yellow nose band and a yellow side stripe. Marcel Massini
Painted or repainted in these colours ? Very curious that the alloy bar in flanks and the Scaglietti badge have disappeared.
0462 MD was born green. See also the chassis page (Autotelaio) of the factory build sheets which confirms "colore verde e giallo" and prepared for "GP Irlanda". The car was completed 3 September 1954, first owner Joe Kelly of Dublin received it 4 September 1954. The 11 September 1954 TT at Dundrod was the first race for 0462 MD. It did not have a Scaglietti badge. You may want to check out the gorgeous color photo on page 10 of photographer Martyn Wainwright's wonderful book "1950s Motorsport in Colour", published in 2004 by Veloce. (Per "Sports Car World" April 1959: When Norm Crowfoot had it he had it repainted blue.) Marcel Massini
0454MD and 0462MD were built without decoration, chrome text or badge, it seems. In the early photos you can also see bare alloy where the fresh paint is stripping, indicating there is no other color underneath.
