Thanks Joe for this shot. As a piece of trivia, this is the first time in 64 years that tlbc has been on a racetrack when I was not at the wheel. And I am happy to report that the new custodian is delighted at how the car performs in the track environment. Crash transmission shifting is smoother and faster than on the street, and the brakes even thought they are 50s drum technology work well. Could not have gone to a better custodian!

    Best regards,

    Robert

I think this event stands out as old school more than normal for a Ferrari event. Almost all private besides Continental, and the restoration and auction companies, who all do vintage cars. What cars did the Ferrari factory bring?? Maybe I missed them because I was too busy drooling on the pre FIAT classic Ferrari's

My pleasure. Still going through my pics. I'll share a link with your photo in higher res as fchat compression is killing the quality.

Is David McNeil a member here? That would be so cool. For years the first thing I do with a new car is take out the carpets and placemats and replace them with Weathertech inserts. Excellent products. I have never had any problems. I didn't realize he was a Ferrari guy until he brought the GTO. He is what being a Ferrari guy is all about.

No clue if he’s a member here, that would be a Rob question if he wanted to disclose, it he is THE Ferrari guy.

It was funny because he flat out asked us if we had Weathertech products and luckily my wife’s Mazda has it all through. He said that he needs more people to contribute to his empire. Excellent sense of humor and just an all around cool guy.

Robert….it was my and my wife’s pleasure to meet you on Wednesday at the lunch at the track. I felt humbled by your 62 years as an FCA member! I’m only a 48 year member. It was great to meet and talk with you.

David MacNeil seemed to be having a great time. It was unusual in that he chose to show every entered car himself instead of getting help from his crew. I judged all 5 of his Supercars and his black/black Enzo was best in class. He wanted to be sure everyone fully understood he was not just motoring around in the GTO and pointed out during one of the track days the tell tale was at 8500 and it was put there that day. Everyone there was treated to seeing and hearing the full performance envelope of a GTO.

As always, thank you David for your generous support of the FCA.

Yeah, but that's pretty high mileage. I can't believe anyone thinks a high mileage car is worth so much.

Someone asked about the major awards. I can tell you that the David Carte Memorial Award went to the 250 PF Cab, s/n 0801GT. The David Carte Memorial Award goes to that vintage Ferrari which has had the most complete historical research documentation and which reflects the very best meld of conservation and restoration. This award is in memory of the guiding principles which David Carte assiduously applied in his painstaking efforts to ensure conformance to originality backed by period correct documentation.

A truly amazing award was the Phil Hill Memorial Award for the Outstanding Ferrari Competition Car. The trophy was created by a couple of the shops at Weathertech and required a crazy number of hours to fabricate (someone here might recall that number from David MacNeil's description). It is entirely milled from an aluminum billet, except for the wheels/tires. Mr. MacNeil's 250 GTO won the award, so the trophy is "going home," so to speak.
