F430 Spider F1 Oil on Muffler

Hi Folks, found what looks to be dried oil on the muffler, which seems to have happened when I slowly reversed the car into my drive which is on a small incline (few degrees).

It dried like plastic onto the muffler as shown in the photos.

Is this engine oil or something else?

I checked over the engine, gearbox and F1 system and could not find any leaks (car is running fine).

The only thing I noticed was the oil cap had worked itself slightly loose (about a 1/3 turn), which it tends to do for some reason. So possibly some oil spurted out of the oil cap onto the engine lid and worked its way back to the muffler?

Does this sound like the root cause or something else at play here? And if so, is this something to worry about or just make sure the cap is tight before each drive?

Ps. It’s a mint 2007 Spider F1 with 17k miles.

Thanks - yes have cleaned it and been for one drive, but no signs of any leak

 

Yes, felt like melted plastic (I’m not sure what dried/melted oil would look like). I scraped it and then polished (looks like new).

What is the fender cover part you mention please ? I can the inspect and see what I find

Thanks - it was serviced by Ferrari in July, and I’ve done about 300miles since then, so think I can rule that out for now. Thank you
