There are only a handful of people that have personally designed their own modern looking car. NSX designer Ken Okuyama made a few (that actually drive), mazda furai designer Carlos Salaff and his Caden model, Jason Castriota (not sure about his custom cars while working at Bertone, also the SSC Tuatara, p4/5, Saab Phoenix) and his incomplete SS Speciale model. All custom car designs made are pretty much a team effort and never one mans design vision.
Lotus Theory 1 - Don't know what to make of it. I rather like the more conventional Emira but in a strange way this reminds me of the Abarth 2000 Pininfarina concept from the late 60's, which I was mad for. Truth be known, I was confused with the car as well. To my eye it bears zero resemblance o any Lotus (Loti) i'm aware of. Charting a new course is fine, but this one has me baffled. But then again,I'm old.
Yes but it violated one of my 2 rules: 1. Is it new? 2. Does it look like the brand it's portraying ? And yet, my edict was always: There's only one rule in design. There aren't any! Go figure.
