Corbani's car has been discussed at length here. He has his own sticky in the Dino section. It's an interesting car, but it's a driver with a ton of verified miles on in and lots of tinkering over the years. It was a RNM last time on BAT (January 2024) @$300K, bidding now is at $300K with several days to run, but that feels like about all the money for this car. I don't see it in the $400K range, and the "Corbani Patina" doesn't add value, at least not for me. Looks like two bids 1st @$150K, 2nd @ $300K I don't think either is a real buyer for this car based on past bids. D
Corbani, albeit in his right, a legend in Dinoland, does not mean a reference to people in BaT. Most, don't even know of him... This is all the $, right now. We'll see at the end, but I seriously doubt it. Now there are no more questions about the car, and we are getting bombarded with 'tourist' photos, as it all, but has dried out. Will never make reserve, unless break even, if that. 12 days? Martyrdom Regards, Alberto
Thanks! I looked through his sticky a bit, but have certainly not read the entirety. It does look like it has seen many improvements. Like many, the Dino was and still is, one of the most beautiful cars made to my eyes. However, I don’t know enough about vintage cars to be intelligent about them. Not do I have sufficient mechanical prowess to work on them myself. So I just admire from afar! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I don't see this car having a spirited - extended last two minute run on BAT. There have been a fair number of nice example Dinos pass through BAT for this one to pull a lot of dough, or even interest at this point. Thinking that somehow its provenance would push its price was really not smart, and I think this is a "cut your losses" opportunity that should be accepted by the seller. This market's not moving up right now, and this isn't a strong dollar candidate in a softening market. Unless Bill wants to hold this car for five years, put $150K into making it more or less right and then sell it in the next Dino bull market, if there is one before 2030, now is the time to sell at best price offered this time. Stuff runs in cycles, this last run up was great, peaked 18 months ago (give or take) and has been slowly slip sliding away ever since, right now I think Dinos are a depreciating asset. This isn't an investor grade car, and that limits its marketability, especially on a place like BAT. D
Precisely as predicted, the Corbani Dino hammered at $300k, after sitting there, unmoving, for days. You guys are too good!
$300k. Fair deal all around. I'm a little surprised Bill set the reserve that low, but hey, car is now off to a new owner who can fix the gearbox, swap the tires, and drive it thinking maybe he stole it. D
$300K seems like a great deal. It gives the new owner lots of up side to use it as-is or restore as you go. Driving it and enjoying it as much as possible is where the magic is!
Corbani's car was a delightful mishmash. As I have written elsewhere before, I drove it in the hills above Santa Barbara after his death, and I should have bought it then, but I didn't - Candi was asking about $90,000 or so at the time. The interior was dirty, almost ratty in a way, but boy did it run strong, and handle great - better than any other Dino I have ever driven. I think that other than Mikeyr (Mike Rambour - who drove John's car for John's very last ride), no one else here posting about John's Dino ever drove it. That's a shame, because it really was special, even in its lovely decrepitude. (I was surprised that in Bill Noon's most recent auction description he described it as having been painted in "Midnight Blue Metallic, a Porsche color, in the mid-1990s following an accident." If I remember correctly, it was repainted in FORD MUSTANG Midnight Blue Metallic).
I have read some ignorant opinions on the Internet but I have never, never, ever read something this dumb. Every right-minded Stooge Fan places Curly at the top of the Black&White Comic Pantheon.
You know he didn't want to be a stooge. He wanted to be a serious actor but Moe convinced him after Curly died. And he did do some serious acting during his career. Curly was one of the best comedians on film. Shemp one of the best actors. Now.. back to the thread!
Don't know about value - pulled trigger and look forward to driving "as if" I stole it. https://www.fantasyjunction.com/inventory/1972-ferrari-246-gts-dino-3/photos#photos-113
