If you read his book the above conclusion is apparent. Way back before he went to RB he was courted and said then that he had no interest in going to Ferrari/Italy. Nothing has changed in that regard, or if anything became more solid.

I can’t believe some of the stuff being written on this subject—I don’t even know where to start. Why the hell should Ferrari have to move out of Italy—the country producing arguably the greatest number of racing cars in the world, as well as championship-winning racing motorcycles—when they’ve won more championships than anyone in F1 while based in Italy?

Ferrari is always there or thereabouts while one Brit team rises to the top while others fade away, some forever. Just look at last year’s up-and-coming super team, AM—where are they now? Merc, after years of winning were nowhere for two years, and Red Bull seem to be following the same path. McLaren, after years and years of obscurity suddenly—after promoting an ex-Ferrari Italian to TP—are winning again from time to time, when their strategy doesn’t fail them.

It’s no surprise that Newey didn’t go to Ferrari—he just seems the type that has zero cultural interests outside engineering and you only need to read his book to understand his susceptibility to biases and prejudices against other ethnic groups—either the Italians who charged him with culpable homicide for an ill-conceived steering mod on Senna’s car, the ‘Italian’ Ferrari (run by French/Brit leadership) for being cheats and influencing the FIA, and the ‘Mexicans’—he literally wrote this—who stole his tools when he was in L.A. working in IndyCar. Not to mention an unflattering portrayal of his first wife because of some personal issues.

He obviously always intended to stay local and while he may have considered maybe for a minute the Ferrari option he was probably super relieved to have been thrown a lifeline by Stroll to stay in the UK—a lifeline with many million pounds at the other end, no less.

What’s telling too is that although Ferrari are being made out to be thick-headed and egotistical, other than the two Brit desperados—AM and the failing Williams team—no other team went out of their way to try to capture Newey. Are all other teams stubborn thick-headed also? All these UK teams have one thing in common, though: they’re full of Newey-wannabe engineers glowing in the light coming off Newey—but they’re not Newey, and hence their lack of Newey-level success.

It has been a long time since Ferrari won a championship in F1.
Mostly by starting a season relatively well, and then developing the car into a solid mid-field runner.

Like almost every other F1 team except the (usually) one team of the moment.

So am I for AMRF1's sake but I don't think it's going to help Lance. Newey's involvment will further prove Lance's performance in an F1 car.

Lance's performance today was paltry in a mid-field car.

Full second off Alonso, p15 vs p8. True to form. We're still waiting for that talent avalanche.

Two rookies in only their second races in a Haas and Williams scored points. Alonso 6th in the AM, a faster car. Stroll? Retired after tussling with Tsunoda for what, 15th? Pretty bad when you get out qualified and raced by two rookies in slower cars. How long before you pull the plug on your clearly unmotivated kid?

Can't wait to hear him whine and complain about Tsunoda and nobody have the balls to tell him it was a stupid move from too far back on lap 1, yet again.

You have to understand something :
Lawrence Stroll’s life is a huge success on business side.
Seems like Lance is absolutely central with the plan.
Believe it or not, Lawrence Stroll is convinced that his son will be WDC one day driving an Aston Martin designed by Newey..

There is nothing wrong with Italy, ONLY at Ferrari.
The Scuderia moving out of Italy would allow them to break away from the feodal culture prevalent at Maranello, and join the 21st century.
Nothing wrong with Dalarra, Ducati, Aprilia, MV, etc... they are successful without engaging in a century old soap opera.

The natural life of a businesses the world over is to start, rise, reach its peak, plateau and then decline, all over 2 or 3 generation of management, then going into oblivion, liquidation or merger. It's a normal cycle for any enterprise.
So it's quite natural that small teams like Cooper, Lotus, Brabham and else reached the top and then went. I guess many others will follow.
Ferrari has survived after many years of intensive care, rescued several times during over several decades, no less by the Italian Federation, then FIAT, Philip Morris and mostly the banks, so it has not suffered the fate of some of the garagists.
Now Ferrari has entered cult status, and become a money making business.

A day late and a dollar short… as usual. And, of course, missing the point and just arguing for argument’s sake.

Everything is wrong in Italy. The problem, is that it has been sold out to the world power(ful).
Ask any thinking (intelligent) Italian and you will be confirmed of this.

The rest, do not know, nor care, or have noticed. All they care about is the salt amount in the water, and if pasta is 'al dente'
It is shocking to see the change.

    That's all folks.

    Regards, Alberto

I would cut off the radio, if I were the engineer, but then his job depends on it...

Yes, Lance is petulant, a spoilt brat, and on and on, ad nauseam.

Really, this thread is all about what 375+ says quite rightly, not a lot to say about Lance and his goings on.

Either he stops racing, or gets an ingrown posterior. Dreary.

Alonso P8 and in the points.

    Stroll P14.

I honestly don't think it will make any difference....oh he'll probably get into the top 10 more often but definitely not the top 3 IF Newey builds AMRF1 a super car.

I think he will podium. We shall see.

I'm still shaking my head in total disbelief over Ferrari's decision not to get Newey. Non buyers remorse will hit them like a ton of bricks when the AM laps them.
