Ok so just had a complete a/c system put in my car….compressor, evaporator and hoses. My a/c worked fine for a few weeks…….now it takes about 10/15 minutes of driving before the cold air kicks in. Soooo I’m driving for 10/15 minutes swearing like a rented mule. any thoughts?
Before the cold air kicks in or before it starts to feel cold in the cabin? If the latter, the refrigerant may be leaking out. Hopefully the shop put dye in it when they filled it. If the former... I'll let someone else familiar with Ferrari-specific HVAC systems address that.
Something wrong there......cold should flow in a minute or so...replaced the dryer etc correct? definitely take it back in to whomever did the work..should be warranteed anyway.
Sounds like a leak unless one of your temperature sensors is saying it is cold when it isn't. I don't know how you would go about checking these. I assume the Ferrari factory diagnostic tools can read the temperatures of each one. There are at least 5 sensors. When you say that the cabin is just recirculated air until the cold air kicks in, do you mean the compressor doesn't kick in or is it working all the time? If you turn off/on the AC with the STOP button, do the engine rpms change immediately? Unfortunately, a lot of the components which could be tested are not easily accessible on these cars (i.e. they are hidden in the frunk behind carpets and moisture barriers)
definitely check whether the compressor is coming on when it's supposed to. The stop button is silly....but if the compressor is coming on, and no cold...freon is not circulating.
Depending on how conscientious the techs were, it could be something simple like the fill port o-rings not being replaced with new ones (if 430's have o rings). You do have at least some refrigerant in the system. The Right Motronic ECU controls the compressor relay coil. The R ECU won't get the command from the HVAC ECU to turn on the compressor if the pressure in the system is below 2 bar (29 psi). Anyway, let us know how you go.
