    Tastes in China are very different for all sorts of things. We have a business in China. I was talking to an exec from another company once over dinner. Everyone else from our team helped themselves to the flesh of a fish and she waited. After everyone else had had what they wanted, she broke off the tail only and began eating that. I asked “forgive me, but where I come from that would be very strange”. She replied that that is because I don’t understand taste and flavour. The more intense flavour is in the extremities of the fish. I still prefer the flesh but I think her logic was very sound, at the very least I could understand why her taste was markedly different to mine.

    The point is that there are often very good reasons why what looks strange to us makes a lot of sense to others. The difference in taste based on the context of our upbringing can be significant person to person and place to place. Assuming the owner paid his or her money like everyone else, the way the car is spec’d is appealing to them. Seems enough to me. If a European did that, that would indeed look strange but even then, if they’re paying..

    My dear sir, in Greece they eat the eyeballs of large fried fish; they even consider it a delicatessen. I find it disgusting, but that 's what the locals like. Who am I to judge? :)
