"Well, in 1990 at the Japanese Grand Prix, French FIA president Jean-Marie Balestre tried to help his fellow countryman Alain Prost.

Although Senna had pole position, Balestre made him start on the dirty side of the track, against prior agreements.

This led to Senna's revenge in the first corner. Senna also protested during the FIA press conference by giving no or very brief answers."

    I saw all 6 episodes.

It gave an in-depth view of his racing life and personal life.

Yes, there's the Jean-Marie Balestre -Prost "partnership" since both were French.

Yes, Senna wasn't liked by Jean-Marie Balestre.

What you see in these 6 episodes is what is happening today in F1 with regards to favoritism.....if you believe in that sort of thing.

    Senna's family was very close.

Actors playing classic and key F1 people and classic F1 cars. Some shots are real-life shots. Sid Watkins(actor playing him) comes out as well.

Senna was a "maverick" during that era of F1.

Prost and Senna make up after Prost retires from F1.

    I liked it.

    C’mon !
Senna the good and Prost the bad.
Very simplistic series for young and lazy audiences.
The supposed plot between Prost and Balestre against Senna is pure ********.
Balestre just wanted absolute power and had a lot of conflicts with charismatic drivers like Prost and Senna ..
In a few day, Canal plus in France will broadcast a documentary about Prost with Prost himself.
I guess this will be a more balanced point of view compared with all this Netflix garbage..

    No interest in watching that.

I suppose it's OK for those who didn't follow F1 at the time.

This movie is completely biased either and missed completely the point between Prost and Senna.

I started the first episode, but even though I lived and breathed F1 at that time, and I was looking forward to it, I just didn't engage and switched off. I should probably try it again. Given the hero worship by many, on here and in the world outside, of Senna, I'm glad to see the comments above calling out the BS in the Prost Balestra conspiracy. Back then I never missed watching a race, and I devoured Motoring News and Autosport every week and consumed any media I could get my hands on. For every Balestra conspiracy people can pull up, there is the other side of the story, like the randomly assigned engines for Prost and Senna arriving from Honda with 'SENNA' marked on certain crates etc.

I recall back when the Senna movie came out a decade or so ago, I saw a pirated Brazilian language version before it came to the cinemas. I enjoyed the Brazilian version much more than the English language version, as I could enjoy the sites and sounds without cringing at the awful distorted version of facts that was laid out. It was, and still is, a tragedy that Senna died, the thing is when someone becomes a martyr, fans have a tendency to re-write the history books to show your chosen deity in a much better light than reality.

The Senna documentary was quite biased despiste being non-fiction, I fear what I could see here.

I have to admit I'm loving it so far. Love seeing how they did the on track action. If anything it warmed my heart to see those cars again and try to relive my youth. IMO it's worth it just for the 1988 Monaco scenes alone.

I understand that it's entertainment and not 100% factual. Doesn't bother me at all.

    I highly recommend it.

Anyone see this series? Brawn: The Impossible F1 Story won the 2024 International Emmy award in the Sports Documentary category. Produced with Keanu Reeves.

Erm just seen the first two episodes.
    A few things jar.
I am sure the formula ford championship was based at more than one track.
    Norfolk is mid west flat.
Why is he living in a terraced house in what looks like Newcastle.
I don’t recall Martin Brundle being supported by topless skinheads.
    Otherwise, so far so bad.
    Hopefully it will get better.

Like you, I followed it at the time (since 1980 to be precise); and I think you should give it a try. I saw it and it brought back memories of that time. As a Prost fan from day 1, I knew that it was going to be another "Senna was the chosen one and Prost was the devil" feature; but you would be pleased to the attention to detail for the F1 cars, tracks and the road cars of the time.

I am thoroughly enjoying the series, and grateful that was even produced. But I guess the negative, half empty commandos can find fault on anything.

An episode and half in and I’m enjoying it for what it is. I am not an expert on this era and was a child at the time, so I appreciate you guys pointing out the inconsistencies and biases.

Due to horrible voice overs in English, I watched it in Portuguese with English subtitles. This made it much more bearable to watch, those English dubs of XUXA are just bad.
